Unknown caller said he was Nigel from a Service company and    
                "my computer system is sending out malicious emails. have you checked your system today."
        I said I will and he said "thank you".

I called back to see how they identify "my system?";
    Connecticut said  'number no longer is service'.

Called on 01/20/2014 @ 11:16 AM and 01/22/2014 @ 12:58 PM from Ledyard, CT.
There were no postings when I checked after the 1st call. After checking the White Pages app I was not so sure. The # is listed to 2 people aged 65+. One in CT & one in VT 214 miles apart.
How can one landline be shared over state lines? Sounds Phishy.

Scammer (W & D Salan) with a thick Indian accent called and stated malicious filed had been downloaded to my computer and that he would help me diagnose the problem. Asked him if he realized he had reached a private investigation agency and advised him that I would not be falling for his scam today. He said it was not a scam and said he could prove it if I would log into "Geek. com".  I said "I don't think so" and hung up. Guess he took me for an idiot!

Received a call on 1/26/14 & 1/27/14 also from a man with a thick Indian accent. Same story as everyone else, stated that I was downloading malicious software on my computer. I asked him how he would know what was being downloaded on my computer.  He said it had to do with my browser. I told him I had 3-4 olders computers all with different browsers (not true). He asked which browswers, I said "Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome."  He said that it could be on all of them to log on and he'd prove it to me. I told him "No, thank you." and hung up. He has called repeatedly since then. I am not answering the phone, but intend to report this.

These calls MUST be reported, because they are obviously breaking the law in multiple ways. I no longer answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.

I posted about another number 20 min ago, and about 2 VERY helpful apps. IPhone HAS to allow you to block numbers, but so far it's a free-for-all. The two apps I use: PrivacyStar for $2.99 per month it will block numbers, give you info on number OR text msg, and will let you report to gov from the app.

The second app I use (YouMail) is a free Voicemail service (your unanswered calls are actually forwarded) and you can see the call within seconds on your phone app. You can listen straight from the app if they've left you VM, or for a small fee have it transcribed by a machine or human (you choose) and you get a text within 30 seconds with your message typed out. They also have a 'Ditch Call' feature - when enough people block the same number, you can choose to activate it and although you see the call flash by, no ring. You can always choose to call back, but why, when it's spam.

I also received call..but do not answer any phone calls with #'s I don't recognize.

How can one landline be shared over state lines? Sounds Phishy, because that's what they're doing, phishing for information. They ask to prove their claim by accessing your computer. It is possible to do this. Whether they are capable or not to of doing this I can't say. If they can, they can install software on your computer to scan it for financial information, or transmit future login information. If not they will find a way to convince you to give them your credit card info to clean your computer. Don't get involved. Various scammers have been trying this for a few years. Sometimes they claim to be Microsoft. Microsoft doesn't call anyone telling them they may have a computer problem. They don't build computers. They write the operating system. You didn't by a Microsoft computer. You bought a Dell, HP, Sony, etc.

Did you happen to see that William R. Salen has another number listed as well?  I cross-checked
the phone number through whitepages.com.   802-765-4320

5:21 PM on 1/30/14 is when I got a call from this number. I also looked it up and found the same information as Kplan23 stated. I guess is must be possible to have this number at two "different" locations (states) since that it what it shows. I did notice that William R. Salen has another 800#: 802-765-4320 - that Dorothy does NOT have or show. I do NOT answer ANY 800#'s since I am sure it is someone trying to sell something and since I don't know either William or Dorothy Salen, I did not answer. Not a surprise they did not leave a message. Of course they called hoping someone would be home - around dinner time - and would answer. No Way. This is the first time I have gotten a call from this 800# and hope the last, since it will do them no good, to expect me to answer no less talk to them. As I have mentioned before, I am glad to have caller ID, to avoid these calls and wasting my time.

Thank you for pointing that out. I can only go by what I found on the White Pages app. There's a lot of very outdated and incorrect info there.
They also have issues with their reporting of searches and reports. I looked up the same # on my iPhone and iPad at the same time and got entirely different search and report results even though the comments were identical. So you have to take what is found on the Internet as not necessarily true.
I got a similar call from (860) 665-0376. Again listed to older 60 - 65 year olds. It is possible both #'s are victims of spoofing.

We get calls several times a week from this number. We never answer, they don't leave a message.
Caller ID says W & D Salen.

These people just don't give up!?!
No, there is NOTHING wrong with my computer!
Stop calling; you'll just get my recording from now on.

I have received calls from this number daily and have informed then daily that I do not wish to receive further phone calls.
They continue to call.  I am reporting them today.

Thius has been calling for the past few days I get no answer and cannot call back because the number is no longer in service
