- Aggrevated| 1 replyThis number has called multiple times, never left a message. My wife accidently answered today. These are scam computer people that will try to convenience you have a virus. I won't go into detail, but in trying to convince you, they say that can fixed your problem. They'll try to get you to give them access to your computer. If you say yes and give them access, that is when you get into trouble. Your computer is open to them to steal any confidential information you have.
Don't give anyone access to your computer, unless you are calling someone like Dell, HP, Microsoft, and you have initiated the call for a problem.- Caller: Scammer

- Teresacall from 678-263-3124 today. Caller ID says "Bold Ideas".
"This message is to inform you that you have had a check fraud case filed against thru arbitration. We need to speak with you or your attorney of record immediately. Contact our office at 678 -263- 31"------. I answered the phone and hung them up at this point. Caller sounded like an american male. - RichInFL replies to AggrevatedThey called me. I occasionally answer strange callIDs. I agree, I read much about these scams, but I always tell them that I never requested service from their organization. So, they never get to the point of asking for access to my computer. Also, I have read that some of these gangsters take all your data and compress it into a single encrypted file, and zap all your data. They demand a ransom to provide the password to unlock your data.
- mec| 1 replyJust called me and they wanted to fix my computer (they claim to be Geek Squad and calling for Microsoft) I told them I did not have a computer (I lied) but they still wanted to fix it. Talked to supervisor and asked him take me off calling list and he asked if I was threatening him. No not yet but buy earplugs next time.
- Slim replies to mecGlad you were not scammed.
However, you really need to fix that broken CAPS LOCK button! - Jon KCalled saying they are Geek squad for windows operating system and my computer is going to crash.
I told them they are crazy and I know this is a scam cause I don't have a computer.
They said I was probably on their list because I am a victim of identity theft and they can help me with that as well.
I asked who they are working for and what country are they in and kept telling them they were scammers and frauds.
They kept repeating something similar to the above about my computer failing and identity theft.
Not sure how their scam works or how they got my number but I irritated them for a while and they finally hung up.- Caller: Says it is Geek Squad Windows OS
- RickWe keep getting calls from this number and I don't answer. I've heard the computer scam plenty of times because they also come up as UNAVAILABLE / UNKNOWN NUMBER which, unfortunately, is how our work (USPS) comes up. If it's the scumbags, when they tell me my computer is sending them info which states it is compromised, I ask them what my IP address is. If they understand the question, they usually swear at me and hang up. If they don't understand (about half don't), I hang up on them. It's a pain in the butt because we don't answer if we don't recognize the number, but this "unavailable" crap is ticking me off.
- Nona YobusinessJERKS. Most disturbing call ever. Strong arm tactics they should be arrested for using. AVOID these people like the plague.

- erchenJust got a call. Heavily accented woman (sounded oriental, Chinese?) saying how I needed to take care of my computer, etc. When I asked for the location of the business, she said she wasn't in business, but just wanted to help me with my computer. Told her I didn't need help, she said I did, then talked about customers, so I said you are in business, what is the address and name. Finally got "Geek Support LIve", address as 122 Pearl St., Enfield - it took a long time to understand because of her heavy accent - questioned her then as why caller id showed up as from Plainville...she couldn't understand the question. A ridiculous call, esp. because of her lack of English. Eventually told her I didn't want their service and she told me I needed to care for my computer - which I did by ending the call! I can't believe there are still people who fall for these scams. Was happy to find a place to report this.

- AnnaThis number called me about half an hour ago. It was an indian man who told me that he was with "Geek Squad Live," and that he had found that my computer had viruses and malware on it. He asked me to push ctrl + R, which brought up Windows Task Manager. I did this, and he then said he'd transfer me to his supervisor. I immediately typed "indian guy says computer has virus windows 8.1?" into my search bar online while they had me on hold, and found that it's a common internet scam-- at which point I hung up. Scammers call saying they are from different companies; a more exhaustive list of who they can "claim" to be can be found here: https://blog.malwarebytes.org/tech-support-scams/. Beware. Do not believe cold callers like these. Do not follow their directions (I shouldn't of even typed in Ctrl + R; I'll be changing passwords and rebooting my computer here soon just to be extra safe). Was going to let them call back so that I could confront them, ask them why they were interested in this type of deceptive business, and tell them about how they didn't need to do it-- telling them about Christ, His love for them, and how they can be freed to get an honest, God-honoring living. It's just very sad that people live their lives this way. :( In all, don't trust them.

- can't fool meJust got a call from a number listed as "Plainville,CT" and claiming to be calling from a guy with a thick accent (Indian?) Geek Squad about our computer. I said we had no problem with our computer. He hung up. I tried calling back but a recording said the number is no longer in service.
- CommanderReceived call 03/20/15 8:00pm from Plainville CT. Did not understand a word they said. Usually never answer calls that have no ID, but just got a little curious. Such a heavy Indian accent. These people make it so bad for American-Indians from India. I don't understand.....our government can tell us the last time you picked your nose, but they can't identify or get rid of this horrible people. Just DON'T answer the phone if your caller ID does not show a name. If it is legit. they will leave a message.
- JRJust got a call from the so call Geek Squad. I knew right off the bat that it was a scam. Lady with an Indian accent was on the line. I let her talk until they got a so call tech on line then I blasted the telephone receiver with loud music then laughed at them. hopefully they will stop calling me.

- CJI received a call on 3/21/15 ~11am from Plainville CT.
The story is the same, you have a virus …malware…I am with a Geek Squad and need you help you fix your PC.
I can act like a [***] with the best of them , so I played along and stated I was so happy to win a new computer.
He said no, he needed to help me fix my computer to which I replied….I can’t believe this, how do I get my new computer.
This went back and forth for about a minute until he finally got frustrated and hung up.
Bottom line be careful and don’t trust any unsolicited calls from any company. - JoThese people call about 3 Times a week...if I'm not in the middle of something, I play with them..while my computer is off...loads of fun. Last week I told him to hold on for a second, and went outside to rinse off my car. This past week after I pushed control /R, when they asked me what if said I asked them to hold while I answered my door ( nobody really there).. Then I got back on the phone And asked how I could help....then I stated that it says I am on a do not call list and it is illegal for you to call me..they hung up...next time I think I will find a whistle..that worked back when I was a kid.

- kaymck| 3 repliesI've been getting calls from this number practically every day, sometimes a number of calls per day. I finally got a call blocker device so I'm not bothered by these dumb [***]!! I answered one of these calls a long time ago and was given the same song and dance about them finding a problem with my computer. I told them I didn't have a computer (although I have two), they hung up. Any calls from out of area that do not display a valid name or leave a message are blocked. This is such a PITA, but the story of our life with current technology. These idiots will spoof any number that they believe will get them through to a sucker. Can't believe anyone would fall for these idiots, especially with a foreign accent.
