Got a call at 6pm on my cell from this #. I didn't answer cause I don't know anyone in Newark, NJ. No message left. Most likely robocaller.

Asking for police donations...another BS scam

I received a call from this number too. I didn't answer & they left no msg. Location: Newark, NJ

Didn't recognize the area code and didn't answer...Glad I didn't...

Called my cell phone which I don't give out. I asked how they got my number. Person said they buy lists from various sources. The caller said they were calling for police donations. I told the person it is a fake and hung up. Next time I am going to tell them they have reached the real police and to stop calling. They don't care that their calls can be traced based on phone number.

agree with you save the fact that their number is a faked  caller id. that is 100% a scam.
we got the same call to our cell ,they even had our names, tried real hard to get us to say YES!! being ex law "DHS" when I asked for his station information, town county his name & badge number his chiefs name he hung up
not one PBA makes phone calls, they ask by mail and normally from the town you live in by using the town tax rolls

They just called my cell and asked for Carla. When I said you have the wrong number, they said "Oh maybe you can help me" and went into the script. I tried to say I am on do not call and he talked over me so I hung up. I reported the number to donotcall.gov

I figured it was a scam ...said yes mail it to me and hung up without providing address because I do not give out info on the phone. Is that bad?

Called multiple times. When answered, asked for donations for police department. Call was from Newark, NJ and I don't know anyone from there.

Called asking for Police donations, told them no.  They called back again within 15 minutes. Didnt answer second time, no message left.

Called my cell and since I was in a situation where I couldn't see who was calling, I picked up. Wanted the head of the household. Told them he wouldn't be home for a week, then blocked the number.

Glad that I checked 800notes. There's no point in getting upset. Blocking and reporting these people is good but it's not as effective as creating a whitelist of all of your contacts and put your phone on "do not disturb", with exception of your contacts list. Android calls them preferred. Whatever, phone doesn't ring for unknowns.

Same exact thing happened to me, only they were asking for Barry which is not my name. He offered 3 levels of donations. Gold, silver, and bronze. Sounded like he was from the south.
