collection agency...i called the # back

Chris called and asked to speak to Eric. I said my name is Eric ( so is my son's name who has not lived here in over a year.) I said what is this inreference to he said it was personal ask me if I was Eric Simmons - ssn I said no because it was my sons SSN.

Chris then asked me if I lying since I said my name was Eric before. I told him no but if he couldn't tell what this was in reference to I would give him any more information. Very rude to say the least.

Got a call from this number yesterday & today. No message left. I don't answer phone numbers I don't know, and I don't call back if people don't leave messages.

No message. Reverse lookup says it's a company in Newark.

Calls my cell several times per day, no message left. I do not answer calls from unknown numbers

it only takes four minutes. By law, they can can harrasse or lie. They called me playing games and lying and I filed a complaint. Everyone should do the same.

Have received two calls from this #. No messages. No idea why they'd be calling, but it appears it's some sort of scam from reading the other messages (I have no outstanding debts).

Frequent caller very annoying also may show up as 200-000-0650 (spoofed caller id.) Real number shows up on caller id (local) however usually shows spoofed number on call logs.  Call blocking on spoofed number does not stop calls.

According to the Phone company Call Block only works to block Local calls in your area. It will not block Long distance or wireless or calls from 800 numbers or numbers which can not be recognized.
Have been getting at least two calls a day from Newark NJ for a while now... Today is the first I can remember seeing this number 862-902-5110 which is also in Newark NJ. So I figure it is a sister company of the first one.

Received a call from 862-902-5110 looking for a close friend regarding "handling a business matter". They was asked for my friend's number, which I declined, and then was given a name + number to have him call them back at = 877-324-0403 Lauri

This number 862-902-5110 has been calling three times a day for the last 3-4 weeks.  I will be calling to report the harrassment.

This number keeps calling my phone, please stop calling or at list identify yourself.

Received call at 8:13 a.m. 11/24/09 Caller (a girl) wanted to know if a neighbor (gave me name) lived next to me.  I told her I didn't know the person.  She said, "You mean you don't know your neighbor?" I told them not to call this number again and that I was on the Missouri No Call List.
Checked Caller I.D. and had received a call from this same caller the day before at 8:29 a.m.

calls several times a day.   Has called neighbors too, trying to get info.

Received a call from 862-902-5110 asked if I was Alice but then gave a different SS# and date of birth.  Told him that it was not me and then he stated that it was a federal offense to lie to a business.  When asked what the call was regarding the caller would not say and would not identify what company he was representing.  This number has called me several times, but I usually dont answer it and no messages are left.

They keep calling and it's VERY frustrating. It says the call is from new jersey... WEIRD! I live in OREGON!

I was call on 11/11/10 My wife ansured the phone and they would not say anything and hug up on here. I got home and called them back, Whe asked hew they were they stated that they we under crontract by the federal goverment and would not give any other information they stated that they were looking for a relative if mine I could not give them any information. When I stated that this was not the first time that they called and I was going to a file harassment complaint aginst them she started hallering at me over the phone stating that I was the one that called them. They are using this ploy to get arond the law.

They called me when I was sleeping after work - WRONG MOVE. I have already been registered on the do not call list and I knew what these people do / what their business is about.

They are a small company that buys up bundles of delinquent loans from banks for fractions of pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect the debt that they now own.

The banks sell the debt to them with the stipulation that if any money is recovered the bank will get a percentage of that money.

These agencies will bounce their number from state to state to try to cover up where their number is actually originating, and often will not identify themselves.

To get the money from you they will do anything including impersonating the law, or outright lying to you.  

THIS IS WHAT I DID:


I let him speak his piece. Then I informed him he had the wrong number.  Then he hung up on me. I called him back and he sounded angry that I was able to.  I then asked to speak to his manager, he said that HE was the manager (lie), then I informed him that he and his organization were in non-compliance with the Federal regulations surrounding the National Do-Not-Call list, and that I didn't care if he bought debt and was trying to collect, he was breaking the law by calling me.  I then threatened that if I received any further calls from his company I would proceed with legal action.  


I have not heard from him since.


Also, if you get them on the phone use the addresses below to let them know you know where they are calling from - this makes them less bold because you could come a'knockin' on their door.

A man from this number called my cell phone on 11/18/2010 and ask to speak to a strange name that he had trouble pronouncing and that in no way was mine. I told him he had the wrong number and he said, "This isn't" and said that name again and I said, "No you have the wrong number." He then began spelling the name of the person and I said, "I think I know my name, @$$hole" and hung up on him. If he didn't misdial I can only assume someone else used my number on some credit account or something since I've had this name for several years and I don't have any diligent bills.
