Unkown person to me did not answer. They left no message.

This number is not known to me; they left no message.  I am reporting this because a friend of mine has recently been the victim of a collection scam.

 Claimed to be from shriners.Sounded suspicious.Out of state and not toll free.

Npa-865 Nxx-246 is from ITCDeltacom in knokville Tn. Could be a scam or agency looking for donations. Caller ID said Shrine Services. May or may not be Shriners Org. I just ignore. Good luck.

Called my office-said "Shrine Services" - left no message. When I called back, I got a voicemail from Michael MaGucci with Gateway Bank. I have no idea who Gateway Bank is, so be careful. Seems very sketchy.

I received a call from 865-246-1280.  They claimed to be shrine services and i hung up on them.  But when i received my phone bill this month, somehow the phone call was billed to me.  I did NOT call them, nor did they call me collect yet the bill for the short call came to me and I have a long distance block on my phone to prevent any long distance call being made from my home or excepted from my home.  How did they do this.  What kind of scam operation can get a long distance call billed to your home without your permission?  BEWARE anyone calling from Shriners.  Clearly they are not who they claim to be.

I got this call last night, claimed to be representing the Shriner's Hospital in Orlando, FL.  That right there told me this was a fake call as there is no Shriner's Hospital in Orlando.  I have reported this call to Shriner's directly via their website www.shrinershq.com  I have also reported this to the local authorities.

I received a call from this number stating they are calling for the Shriner's, but they called on a line I have only used for family for years.

Well the only thing that i can Say to you all.
Shrine Services Is Not a SCAM.. If you Know of the Shriners And the Good  work that they do for Children. Or Go to WWW.shrinecircusfund.com.. You Will Also See the Reson For the Call.. And it is a 1 time Phone Call ! Time out of the year..We Are nice People.. But if you answer with an attitude.. Then Go back to Bed And Wake Up on the Right Side.. But We Are Just Calling to Put Smiles On childrens Faces.. I Also Work For Shrine Services

Mine was "on behalf of the Jacksonville Shriners." Sorry, but if you're calling "on behalf of {organization}" you probably don't *belong to* the organization, and most likely are a hired telemarketer. Not interested.

BTW, angeleyes, I don't think most of us are anti-Shriners, or anti-Habitat for Humanity, or anti-most charitable endeavors. However, the public has had it up to *here* (holding hand a foot over head) with hired-hack telemarketers (regardless of whether they represent legitimate charities) calling seven days a week "on behalf of" their latest client.

Totally agree with radishmom - Amen to everything she said!  I got my *once a year* (yeah right) call this morning and didn't pick up the phone.  I never answer *Unknown Name* calls, I don't care where they come from or who they are calling *on behalf of*.  No message left.

Call from 865-246-1280; "Unknown Name", Tennessee area code.  Did not pick up, they did not leave a message.  My number is on the Do Not Call registry; I don't want to be pestered by these morons, no matter who they "represent".  If I were able to give money to charities I would contact them myself.

Okay so if they call one time a year, how long is a year in YOUR world?  They have called here SIX times in the past two WEEKS.  I'm on the federal DNC list and do not want these calls.....I have had no dealings with Shriners, which makes these calls UNSOLICITED; and while the FTC permits charitable organizations to make unsolicited calls, and while I agree they do a good service to the community, I am not in a position to donate to ANYBODY so these calls need to stop NOW.  I will be contacting them immediately to advise them to cease and desist.  Oh yes, and why is it, if they are a LEGITIMATE charity, they can't bother to show their NAME on Caller ID?

Received several calls recently with this number and no name. Didn't answer and no message left. I called the number which is located in eastern Tenn. in Knox County. Got a recording that the company is Shrine Services and they were hired to solicit donations for Shrine Circus coming to the area. So I left a voicemail message asking that our phone number be added to their internal do-not-call list. As a charity, Shriners can legally call to ask for donations even if your phone number is registered on the FTC donotcall.gov national list.

Hung up when I answered.
