- koko| 6 repliesBe careful when returning calls to this number. Usually you can use *67 when you make a phone call and your phone number will be blocked, but not when calling this 866 number. They can somehow unblock the number and they will know the number you are calling from. Be cautious! I would recommend that you never return calls to this number or answer calls from this number. They are fishing for information. The original call came from a 909 area code, probably a cell phone. They asked that we call them back at this 866 number. SCAM!!!

- aleeen| 1 replySomeone called today for my brother. They said it wasn't bad, that it was "a good thing," & they just want to "protect his status." I told them I have no idea how to get in touch with the bum (who was good at giving out my phone number), and that there's no chance of him contacting me -- he owes ME money, too! They insisted I take their number, just in case he does contact me. How can I block calls from this number?

- nonameA Mr. Cutts called. Said a family member's property was in jeopardy and they couldn't get through to that person over the phone. (It is not clear how they obtained my phone number.) They sounded caring but were phising for information. They said the address wrong, they named a dead relative. They have little bits of info, maybe things someone could get off an internet search.
The first time I talked to him, "Mr Cutts" sounded Texan. The second time, "Mr Cutts" didn't sound Texan and he said they were calling from "California." Pacific Coast Standard time. It sounded like the first time a man answered the phone he said "Law Physicians Office." What?! It sounds like they know a little about offices but not enough to be real.- Caller: Law Offices of Syndey Michael
- anonymousGot a voice mail today from an Alonzo Topar with the Law Offices of Sidney Michael. Though the call came from a 909 area code, he left an 866 number. He claimed to be looking for a relative, and that "make no mistake, it is important that we find her"...somewhat of a threatening tone.
This is the caller Id I received: 909-568-0750.- Caller: Law Offices of Sidney Michael

- redmaxine| 1 replyI am starting to get calls from them too. I did get them a while back. They are trying to collect on something that was lost in a fire and was insured and that was 20 years ago. I sent a letter from a lawyer and it stopped for a long time. Now they are calling again. So glad I googled them. Now I know not to return the calls.

- bbyslgr replies to DedeeI received a call three times from the Law Offices of Sidney Mickell. They are looking for a my brother-in-law who is in jail! Informed that he was in jail and they insisted that I give a phone number. They stated he was not in trouble and I laugh and stated well if that was true he would not be in jail. I told them to remove my number as it was my work number they called. Nicole Walsh of the office stated that this was the number that was provided as his home number which is a bunch of crock! No family or friends know my work number as it is for work.
- Thor Thorgundersson replies to Dedee1. I have investigated what they call "soft names" in the collection agency lingo.
2. They are scavenger agencies, and they diliberately mix a good credit Mr. John Smith, with a bankrupted Mr. John Smith.
3. Then they contact, the good Mr. John Smith, and put the pressure on him.
They have info on "both" good and bankrupted "Mr. Smith".
4. These scavenger's hope that good credit Mr. John Smith, will simply "pay the old debt".
5. The scavenger will have a few truthful facts about good credit Mr. Smith, knowing an old address, or town, or job location, phone number etc, wifes name etc.
6. Scavenger will work the good credit Mr. John Smith, for as long as it takes to get money from him. Days, weeks or months if needed.
7. WARNING: If good credit Mr. John Smith, makes the mistake of "paying". He will then be contacted one by one from other scavengers who have him on the "hit list". THIS STUNT WORKS JUST LIKE THE PHONEY CHARITIES !!!
8. DON'T PAY. DON'T ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS. DON'T LET FAMILY MEMBERS ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS. When scavenger doesn't get what he wants, they move on to a easier target.
9. FOR MORE ON SCAVENGER'S GO TO CLARKHOWARD.COM . - Thor Thorgundersson1. They made the mistake of calling a friend of mine at his job today. And did not disclose which "fairy tale" they were going to use: Telephone survey, collections, charity, politicial, etc. Seeing my friend works at the I.R.S. it will be interesting how they will explain themselves when they find out they are talking to an audit agent.
2. He had applied at three (3) apartment complexes in the past eight (8) weeks--but then ended up buying a home.(private sale cash--no credit check)
3. With some research, I discovered, that the rental application information was sold to information data banks, that sells your information to anyone with a dollar. Now, six (6) different sources have sold and can re-sell his current information. The three (3) screening agencies and the three (3)apartment complexes he applied at: He never disclosed he was I.R.S. on his rental applications, it is too dangerous.
4. If you need to research these scavenger collection vermin, then go to ripoffreport.com or clarkhoward.com for truthful, factual and usable information on how to combat these type of abuse against consumers. - Thor replies to aleeenDear ALEEN,
1. Have fun with it. It is your brother, not you they are looking for. So, if your brother has the type of first name that has a female counter part like: Fred becomes Freda etc or Robert becomes Roberta, ( you can see where I am going with this) When scavenger calls again for brother Fred, respond with Fred! He isn't Fred anymore, he is Freda...now, then misdirect them to some government address in another state, like Los Vegas, Nevada or San Franciso, Calif or Miami, Florida, New York City, New York etc.
Freda LAST NAME
GOVERNMENT ADDRESS or (UP-SCALE CONDOS WITH COMPLEX PHONE NUMBER)
LARGE URBAN CITY, USA
2. Or, tell them to hold on a moment and then start doing your housework, I like to start with vaccuming.
3. Hand the phone to your 2, 3 or 4 year old kid.
4. Or, sent the phone down by a talk radio program...religion in a non-English language is a good one. Russian, German, Hebrew etc.
I will predict, that they will stop calling you.
This works well on the new phone number you get, and the former owner had collections calling them too. - pay your bill| 10 repliesnot a joke, not a scam, guaranteed, info is not given to the person it does not belong too, ive done my research, there is a federal law that prohibits them to disclose any info of the person they are inquiring about, its call third party disclosure, and about the mixing of credit reports is not true also, they are legit, ive been sued by them and payed the price. i learned my lesson, i thought as you once did, but in reality if you look at it, you people that dont pay your bill, you basically borrowed money from whatever bank or credit co. and never intended to pay it back.....that is the same thing as stealing.
