The vultures from Vital Recovery Services display
    866-221-6739 for their harassing calls.
However you should never call vultures using
a toll free number, because unless you call
from a pay phone you CANNOT hide your number.
The usual call blocking number *67 will NOT work
    with toll free services.

Better contact vultures like those from Vital
Recovery by mail, or use their regular number.
Demand that they do not call you again.
If you mail you should get a receipt
or spend a couple of dollar in certified mail
so that you can sue them later
if they fail to comply with your request.

We have had this phone number for about 18 months.  We kept getting calls for "Jan Brewer".  No, not the Governor.  First from doctor's offices and credit card companies.  Now this company listed below calls us TWICE a day, once around 11:00 in the morning and once around 2:30 in the afternoon, PDT.  They don't talk or say anything when the message machine picks up, and after 30 seconds or so, they hang up.  My husband answered the other day and they asked for Janice Brewer.  He explained that they had the wrong number, that we'd had this number for over a year, and please stop pestering us twice a day.  But it hasn't stopped them.  "Honey are you going to get the phone?"  "No, dear it's our 2:30 call."  "Oh them."  This is ridiculous that they can just keep ignoring our requests.  I'm guessing the company is Vital Recovery based on reading some of the other bloggers here, but they have never identified themselves and on my phone it just identifies them as "Toll Free Caller".

I also received daily calls from this number.  I called these people directly at (678) 578-1020 and discovered they were looking to collect a debt from a person who must have had my land line number in the past.  I no longer receive calls.

I was receiving two or three calls each day.   I went to the BBB website and filed a complaint.   The next day I received an email from a Mr. Hegwood and he spent several hours tracking down the number that he was calling.   It seams, someone set up a Google number and forwarded it to my home number.   You will need to keep a call log of what day and time you receive each call,  this way they can cross check all calls to see what number is being called.   It may take some time, but they will work with you to end the calls.   The BBB website is:

They keep calling saying we owe for the balance on our car.  We did a return to lender our lender cleared our account, they sold car for more than we paid so at that point what was left was interest on the principal that was totally paid off, and interest that isn't due because the principal is paid off does not get to be collected.  My credit report also states that balance was wrote off.  They tell me I don't understand or was misinformed about the interest.  I said no way, the credit report is right, as that is what you all go by when I want credit so what is on the is gospel right? and then I just hang up.  They call 3-4 times a day and this has been going on for about 3 months.

Vital Recovery strikes again.  I admit I owe some co-pays on my family's medical accounts, but not enough to warrant collection agency actions.  Since I never answer the phone from numbers I don't recognize, they have no recourse other than to keep calling (which won't get a response from me), or break down, spend the cost of a stamp and send me a letter.  If it's legit, they already have that information.  If they're a scam, they can suck eggs.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

I continue to get calls from these "people."  Just for laughs I checked the BBB website.  Almost 100 complaints, and the responses from Vital are all the same, a boiler-plate response.  Then, again just for laughs, I went to Vital's website.  Here's their home page greeting, copied EXACTLY:

"Welcome to Vital Solutions, Inc., leading the way in Accounts Receivable Management, Outsourcing and Risk Management. By merging applications in the latest technology with industry-best practices through our highly committed team, we produce results and earn our clients’ confidence. With over 155 years industry experience among top executives we have developed an exceptionally strong compliance footprint and pride ourselves on maintaining a straightforward, hands-on, honest approach."

If that isn't a crock, I don't know what is.  It's laughable, just like I said.

Third time for me on this number.  Now I get "Alice" from the IRS.  I answered.
    "Hallo?"
"This is Alice from the IRS (thick Indian/Pakastani accent)."
    "Hallo?"
"This is Alice from the IRS."
    "Hallo?"
(Assuming she says the same thing, this time in Spanish!)
    "Hallo?"
    (Again, in Spanish.)
    "Hallo?"
    She hangs up.
The funniest part is that I can hear massive amounts of noise from the boiler room.  Sometimes you just have to do something like this just to aggravate them.
