- BostonReceive calls from this number and 223-7171,223-7166, and 223-7673. Other posts identify these last three as Smile Train, the non-profit group rasing money for cleft palates, so suspsect this is just another of the automated dialing numbers they use.
- Caller: Smile Train?
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- sage| 2 repliesI've been getting calls from 866-223-6830, 866-223-7161, & 866-223-7673 around 10am every morning for the past few weeks. I turn my machine off and let it ring. Wondering if perhaps a common thread may be people who were compromised in the zappos.com site breech a few weeks ago - and had their names, addresses & phone numbers hacked? I did some research on the numbers and these numbers were listed as vacated and could be purchased for a small fee. Re: post from "Boston", these numbers are most definitely not from Smile Train, they have a completely different 1-800 number. Definite scam.
- AtlantaReceive CONSTANT phone calls from 223-6830, 223-7159, 223-6481, and 498-7690. I requested that they remove my phone # from their auto-dialer. We'll see if anything changes.

- Resident47 replies to BillYour callers do not maintain this site or this web page. Your callers cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. You will not get compliance with your orders until you deliver them *directly* to your caller.
FCC notes on various ways to combat nuisance calls (at least from legitimate sources)
http://www.fcc.gov/guides/unwanted-telephone-marketing-calls - Resident47 replies to sageYou are likely to find the calls are placed by a commercial fundraiser, such as Associated Community Services, Dial America, Donor Services Group, Harris, InfoCision, MDS, and TeleFund. As commercial entities, these hired call centers are expected to honor an internal no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can kvetch about abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on.
- wilhofInfoCision calling on behalf of Smile Train. These people are relentless and the only way to deal with it is to answer the phone and ask them to take your number off their calling list. Otherwise, they will continue to call until that particular campaign is over.

- LDL| 1 replyI noted the list of associated numbers reported by others and see that I too am getting telemarketer calls on one after another of the numbers. Unfortunately, there is a limit to the quantity of numbers I am able to block. Guess I need to do a frequency analysis and change some of my alloted blocks to block the greatest number of unwanted calls. Latest call was from -6830, CID shows TOLL FREE CALLE and they left no message. Occasionally their message is "Hello, Hello!" - probably as an attempt to make us think the call was from someone we know...
- RonI called back this number. It is Smile Train, and they do give you a chance to be taken off the call list.

- Walusa replies to LDLI too had been plagued by non-profit organizations calling for additional donations or to pressure me to pay for unsolicited junk they sent me (which I disposed of). To totally get rid of these calls I bought a digital call blocker device that allows blocking of entire area codes (marketing call centers typically use 800, 855, 866, 877, 888). Best $100 I have spent to stop getting unwanted phone calls. Works on land line and cable phones but not cell phones. Hope this helps.
- BenSame thing as the others on this post... My phone rings, I answer and then it hangs up! I keep hoping that someone will answer so I can ask to be removed from their calling list, but no such luck ! ! !
- Sheila BonaiutoStop calling me. I am pestered at least once a day

- m brog replies to sageI have also been getting calls from this number, 866 223-6830, and many other numbers for the past few weeks. Did not hear about the zappos breech but I am a user so I will look into it. Any suggestions as to how to stop the calls would be much appreciated. Thanks! What a pain!
- m brogHere is a list of numbers I have received unwanted calls from in the last few weeks, some of which even come from area codes in which I have lived or called for business purposes. I always let unknown numbers go to VM but there is seldom a message.
Hope you're sitting down!
