- BenJust got a call this morning. Couldn't hear the guy / girl say anything, so I hung up and called back. Law offices of William Siegel (ph), asked if I knew [Bob Smith]. Said no, and he hung up. Weird.
- BobI just checked my call Manager (I have this number blocked but it will still show up as a missed call in my Call Manager) and noticed they have called every day or so for weeks and weeks. Whoever they're looking for they don't believe you wen you say that nobody by this name lives here and will call and call and never send any proof of any debt owed or anything (Which is why I blocked them in the first place)

- SarahThis is a collection agency. So if you have for example a Capital One credit card that was never paid, after some time Capital One sells the account to a collection agency. Which happens to be this company. And yes the representatives are from India. You can call them 866-355-9583. Or here's the address: Wm. W. Siegel & Assoc., Attys. at Law, LLC / 7 Penn Plaza, Suite 1500 / New York / NY / 10001-3995.
My father died and I'm handling all his accounts. This is one of them. Hope this info helps!

- BrandonThey have been calling me for a few weeks now. I've read on other sites similar to this one that they are a law office of some sort.
The thing is, there seems to be some discrepancy as to which law office it actually is. According to all of the different sites I've visited (I had to piece all of this together) this is their information:
William. W. Siegel & Associates - Attorneys at Law LLC
Also known as: Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay
William. W. Siegel & Associates, Attorneys at Law, LLC
7 Penn Plaza, Suite 1500
New York, NY
10001-3995.
Apparently, they use India call centers and are a debt collection agency of some sort. I have absolutely NO outstanding debt or late payments of any kind, so I'm not exactly sure why they are calling me on my private cell phone number. My wife has also received a number of calls from them. Since neither of us have any late payments or accounts in collection, I can only assume that they are trying to get contact information for someone we both know. - I Don't Trust ThemJust like ER Solutions, I received a letter from this office claiming I owe money to them for a past bill. I discovered, through thorough research, that some of these companies are scams. Sometimes, if you pay to them, they do not report to the companies you do or, supposedly do, owe. Do not deal with companies, other than the ones you do owe, by contacting them personally. If that company says they are using a collector's company, then, yes, work with them. But still use cashier's checks or pre-paid cards and always keep copies of every transaction.
There are a lot of these scam artists, and they seem so legal. The reason they do is because they do some legal transactions-just enough to keep them in business. (Research ER Solutions to see what I mean.)
When 1-866-226-3390 called, for the umpteeth time, I finally answered. No one responded, and my phone just sounded dead-like someone was listening but not answering. That made me very suspicious. I have never called them, and I never will. I don't trust them or any other company that calls just to sit there and listen or hang up. That is, totally, questionable behavior, considering it is supposed to be a legitimate company.
The letter I received from Wm. W. Siegle & Assoc. Attys. at Law, LLC also caused me to be suspicious, right off the bat, due to the paper not being the type that is normally used for legit offices. It is like super cheap copy paper. This was my first clue. That is how I came to find this web site. I always research any company or a for a product I am interested in buying. It's just a good rule of thumb.
Always do your research before giving money out to someone you don't know, and, never, ever give your bank account or credit card information over the phone to them. If you must use a card, then purchase a re-load one that you only keep a certain amount of funds in. That way, if you do give that information out, there is only so much they can take. Furthermore, they can't get your personal bank information nor your credit card information. I, highly, recommend you use this for any purchases you make on the internet or over the phone too, except from web sites or businesses you know, for a fact, you can trust. (Eniva or Amazon.com comes to mind.) That way, you are protected from scam artists looking to overcharge you or take money from your checking account they are not entitled to.
If you do decide to pay a past debt, demand a web site where you can do so. Then always print out the receipt information. That way, you will have the proof for the company you do owe so, if they demand payment, you can send them a copy to show that, you, in good faith, paid your bill.
I, personally, on the other hand, plan to send cashier's checks to companies I owe past due bills. This way, I will always have a bona fide receipt, and they don't have my checking account information.
Be cautious, protect your assets and your identity. Know who you are dealing with.
An ounce of prevention will keep you from a pound of regret.- Caller: Wm. W. Siegel & Assoc. Attys. at Law, LLC
