"866-226-7022 Toll Free Number" has called at least twice a day for several months.  Sometimes they ask for "Colleen".  Of course, there is no "Colleen" at this number.  BTW we've had this number for 15 years.  If we ask who they are and why they are calling, we hear voices in the background discussing this.  It appears to be some kind of call center.  We've asked them to stop calling.  We've told them to remove us from their list. We are on a no-call list.  Still they do not stop calling.

    Very Annoyed!
I just got my number from Verizon like a month ago and these people have been calling since! I don't know what they want. Sometimes it says hold for an important message, sometime it is some person calling asking to speak to whom ever. Whenever I ask questions they just hang up, WTF do they want from me! If you reply to this post PLEASE post your carrier, that might help out.

These folks have called me 8 times today without leaving any message. I don't answer numbers that are unknown, so I won't answer it.

Repeated calls.  They either drop after 3 rings or on answering machine a voice will tell me to hold for an important message, then a human voice has come on a few times & say, "hello," but then calls.  I get 2 to 3 calls every day from this number including Sat. & Sun.

Many calls from this number.  Sometimes it's "Hold for an important message", sometimes silence.  I just flip the phone on and off when I see this # anymore.

This number calls my house 3 to 4 times a day. They always leave a message for me to hold for an important call. I called the number back and it goes to a generic voice mail box.

4 or 5 times a day I get a call from this number. They never leave a message, but will not stop calling. This call has become the weirdest thing, because who would spend a couple hundred dollars a year for a toll free number but never talk to anyone?

It seems to me that the phone company whereever could trace this phone number
and report them to the police department since it is against the law to
harass and annoy persistently every single day including weekends.  When the
phone companies can put a tracer on your number for legal reasons and find out who is doing this and prosecute the party doing this why have they not done so?  I echo all the other victims messages above. I am also on the do not call list.

Been getting calls from these guys for about a month now. I echo what everyone else has been saying. They are calling my cell phone and my carrier is Verizon also. Not sure what others have for their carrier.

I too have a verizon phone and I have been getting a call from these guys since the past 2 weeks. Lifted the call once and got a recorded message. Saved this number and set the ringer to OFF for that number but its still an annoyance looking at the missed calls. They are still calling me (almost 10 times a day). Wonder when they drop my number out ....

I finally talked to a real person at the other end of one of these "Please hold for an important message." They said they were calling on behalf of Discover card. Could be a lie, but I told them to get me off that list, asap.

I get calls 3-4 times a day usually around 8-9 am MST, 12-1 pm MST, and 7-8 pm MST.  I'm not on Verizon, and the Company that answers my callback is some Mexican phone company...

Missed three calls this morning while I was getting ready for work, and recieved three more so far - I've never waited past the third repetition of "please hold for an important message, we need to speak with you". This is really annoying!

I called it back.  Said they were looking for a "Mita Wilson", which, of course, no one here by that name.  I told them they are harrassing me for no reason and that my number needs to be removed from their system or my attorney would look into the matter.  She said she would remove it and thanked me for calling.  I still do NOT know who the company is though.  She spoke too quickly.

My carrier is Verizon, and I've only had this number for a month. Just got a call from these people, today. Never before. Picked up because I'd been expecting a call from a number I wouldn't recognize. Silence for a few seconds until I said "hello", then got an automated "Please hold for an important message". A woman started to speak, but I cut in immediately to ask who was calling. She stuttered and asked for "Josh". I said, "No Josh here, please take this num -" She interrupts, with "Um, okay, so sorry, bye," as if she's trying to beat me to the hang-up.

I'm also on the do not call list.

If you get a call from this number, wait for a human voice and then tell them you are going to take legal action against them for fraud and harassment.

I just got another call from this number, and this time waited for someone to pick up, so I could play along and ask questions. After the "Please hold for the next available representative - it is important that we speak with you" message played three times, a woman said "hello". When I responded, she woman said she was calling for a Joseph so-and-so, and when I told her I was "his wife" and that she could leave a message with me, she responded that she was with Green Alliance One, a debt collection agency in collaboration with Cross Country Bank, an applied card bank. She claimed that she was calling in regards to my "husband's" Visa Card bill of $926.69 with Cross Country Bank. She wanted to know "what he plans to do about this bill". My husband's name is not Joseph, nor does he even own a Visa Card. I asked her how he would be able to pay it. She said she could do it right over the phone. I asked if he could call her back, and at what number, and she replied that he could call back at 866-226-7022.

After I hung up with her, I Googled "Cross Country Bank" and found this article:

    http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/01/ny_cross_country.html

Summary: It's about a law suit the state of New York took against the bank in January of 2006 for fraudulent and abusive debt collection practices.

If you get a call, please report this number to whoever you think will nail these people!
