They called and said that it was an important phone call regarding business matter and that it is imperative that the person they called for call them back. They asked for my brother because that's the name on the bill. I told him that he didn't live here anymore and he said :'but the phone number is registered under his name.'

I received a call from a Warren Bingham, of NCC Business Services - also stating tha this was an important business matter, it did say that he was a debt collector.  I have no outstanding bills that I am aware of.  I think that the call was bogus.  Can anyone confirm?

I neighbor recieved a phone call from this number and said they were looking for me. Told him it was a business matter and they "couldn't get a hold of me". I have not received any phone calls from this number.
    Could be a scam.

The number is for NCC Business Services a collection agency. I recommend writing a letter requesting that all contact be done in writing. Have them send you a letter stating the exact nature of the business they have with you. It is your right to ask them not to call you, your neighbors, your boss, etc.

Don't forget your credit card bill.

I got a call from them (NCC) 1-866-227-9324 about my debt that I had not remembered.  They were kind of aggressive to let me pay the debt.  I requested that NCC could provide a written notice to confirm what it was.  But they said that it would take 6 weeks or so.  They simply wanted to let me pay with credit card.  I was skeptical and cut the phone once.  Then, I tried to search what was going on.  It revealed that I forgot my bill with a credit card that I made about 7 month ago so that I could get 15% discount from a GAP store because I moved out the apt and GAP could not reach me since then.  I called the GAP credit card division.  They did not tell me much about the account but closed already.  The GAP credit card division told me that now GM money has been handle the account with a phone number.  I called GM money and was told that now NCC was supposed to handle it and got a phone number for NCC.  Finally, the NCC referred the phone number of 1-866-227-9324.  It matched!  So, I decided to pay the debt with my credit card over the phone.  Several days later, I got written bill with the same amount of money.  I called them again and ask if I still needed to pay.  Then, they said that they received the money already, and case closed.
In conclusion, it is a bit out way of appropriate business manner but legitimate company to collect debts that were forwarded by other creditors.  As long as you can trace what it is and your credit card will protect you from unnecessary additional payment, I would say that it is OK to pay your debt to them.

These people are sharks. Make their lives as hard as possible. They will sell your liver to Satan so long as they can collect their outrageous collection fees on behalf of their clients (ie your original debtor). Be careful with these [***].

NCC and NCO are the same debt collectors. I wrote a letter and faxed for both not to contact me and they still do. I believe the next step is to report them to someone.

I received a call today from this company looking for someone who doesn't reside and never has resided at this number.  After going through the prompts pressing #'s saying this person doesn't live here, I decided to call them back.  I reached a human (what a shock) and explained that I received a call for someone and was curious to as why would they call my personal ph #.  She asked for my # and then gave me the name of the person they were looking for and I verified the name, ironically I know this person (begrudgingly so), she is my husband's ex-wife (they've been divorced since 1985, we've been married since 1991).  I said this to the lady and she was even shocked.  I then proceeded to inquire how in the world would we be called for something that pertains to her and her answer was, they do internet searches to find anyone that would somehow be connected and then call them.  I know of someone else this has happened to very recently.  They use WhitePages.com for one resource.  I then said to her, somehow this seems to be a form of harassment for the "party" intended and I, for one, would be irate.  There has to be a legal issue regarding this, I do not feel they should be able to get away with contacting whomever they like.  I am going to talk with an attorney to see what can be done about it, if anything.

I got a robo-call from them this morning looking for someone with my last name and my late mother's first initial.  This is the second call I've gotten for this person and the second call from this company.  They were looking for someone else with my last name a few months ago.  The man I talked to told me that they keep calling people with the same last name and first initial until they score a hit.  Unfortunately, once they program your phone number in their robo-dialler, they keep calling until you deal with it.  The FTC requires them to cease calling if you request it.  I get so many calls from bill collectors that the FTC has me keeping a log for them.  I have a common last name.
