I received a call from this number and they said they where calling about a pending legal matter and left me a case number. The guys name was Joe Carter from the verification unit.

Called me and gave me a case #. Kept coming up Unknown Called on my caller ID. Gave me a this call back number to speak to a Tina Cochran. I couldn't fully understand the name of the company, so if anyone knows please post so I can contact them via mail.

This company is a debt collection company called The Winchester Group. They threaten lawsuits and then threaten to serve papers at your residence or place of business to appear in court for anyone who does not respond to their offer in compromise.

Research and know your rights as a consumer under the FDCPA. It's easy, just Google it.
Then tell these clowns to put it in writing. Mail it to you. Not e-mail or fax. They refuse? Tell them no full letter of validation..no money! It really is just that simple.

Thanks, Gunnar! I got a call from them, and so did my brother...said I had "a complaint against me"...

These people at 866-229-7126 called me at least 3 times today asking questions about my sister's business not mine.  They said there was a complaint filed and left me a doc. # and phone number, 866-229-7126, to call if I had questions and theysaid it would be turned in as unreachable if they didn't hear from me after 3 tries.

Called for some person I never heard of. Called them to tell them they have the wrong number and they were hugely rude to me.

This number called me and left a message saying that there was a legal matter pending against me.  I googled the phone number and this website came up.  They gave me a call back number and document number.  I called back and they said they were a law firm called winchester group.  I googled the name of the company and a company in VA came up.  I called them and they said they are strickly an investment banking company.  I called the 1-866 number again and they said that I have an important legal matter pending, but they would not tell me what it was.  If they are a debt collection agency, they never mentioned that in the voice mail they left me.  Further more, I have no debt. I haven't carried any in almost 10 years!!!  Sounds like a scam to me.

This same lady told me the name of Company is Winchester Group out of  Temecula, CA>

this number called me 1-866-229-7126 told me he was the Winchester Group and I owe on a credit card.

has anyone notified the FBI

Mrs. Cochran asked me if I had been served yet ?? Why wouldn't she know if she was a lawyer?? She is very rude and even called my employer after I told her not to. She said legally she could call once. She kept raising her voice. Very unprofessional. Even told me she would go after my husband which I'm pretty sure is a lie.

I have been getting so many calls from some process server, and I never called back, so they ended up coming to my job and served me with a summons to appear in court, I did go to court and I ended up being sued

Yep, it's a lie - how could she go after your husband?  Unless you BOTH had an account which was delinquent, and has been turned over to her, which I doubt.  Also, lawyers and debt collectors do not let you know you're being served - a court process server just delivers the papers to you,  Read up on the FDCPA and learn your rights as a consumer.

Remember - if she won't send via mail a debt validation letter proving you owe this debt and that she is licensed to claim and collect in your state, she's a scammer.

I call BS - process servers DO NOT call - they just serve you the court summons.  Neither do they turn up at your work, unless your work has given them permission to do so, since it is private property.  Nice try, though.
