People called my parents - my employer - and me as well.  Started off as an automatic dialer said her name was "Christina Smith and to called for proper delivery of a fax.  Called them back they avised they were some Arbitration firm out of Chicago.   I was placed on hold for several minutes.  They came back to the phone stated I owdd money to " Pacific LLC" and they are going to take me to Court for a debt I allegedly owe.  When I asked for their contact information to get copies of said debt they refused and said I can look it up online and then I was hung up on.

These people also called me asked had I been to court this week and claimed I owed money on a personal loan and was going to be taken to court. Had I been to court that would be public knowledge so she would have already known. Long story short I informed that I've never never had a personal loan from anyone and if someone wants to take me to court then I'll see them in court.

I was contacted a place called Cardinal Processing.  They told me I owed $300 for a payday loan advance I didn't pay back in 2008.  She told me I better hire a good lawyer if I wanted to fight this in court.  Now they're calling my work.  I guess I will see them in court too.

They called my wife at home, demanding a immediate payment of a supposed old loan. They forced her to call me at work. I spoke to them and requested verification by mail and they refused. I told them they were scam artists and hung up, and told my wife not to speak to them again. I also blocked their number from my cell phone.

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Got an automated dialed call saying they were confirming location information for a delivery.  When the person actually came on the phone she acted like I called them.  Then said she was with Cardinal Recovery and was calling because I failed to respond to letters they sent in August.  When I said I never got any letters from them and asked why they were calling she got nasty.  Said I failed to pay back a loan in Nov 2010 from Cashnetusa.  Said I'd be sent a court summons and have to appear unless I wanted to settle for $590.  When I pointed out the bank they said the money went into was closed 3 years before I supposedly borrowed it she hung up

They called me and said I owed $300 to TDBank which I knew I did not. I called TDBank to verify and they confirmed I DO NOT.  I called back to tell these scammers this and was hung up on.  I THEN proceeded to give them a taste of their own medicine.  Another "agent' of theres called me from a 'cell phone" and gave her an earful and told her they were scam artists and got the wrong one today.  SHE THEN proceeds to call me and leave ME a voicemail (this fool) with my name/ address and social security number and demands I call back.  Glad she left that voicemail because Now I have record!!... I work in a law firm.  They messed up bad this time........
