Let voicemail about legal matter I don't even know about

Someone named "Melissa" from a company called Providence's "legal department" called my residence, leaving extension 326 as her extension number, threatening possible "check fraud" charges filed with my local county DA.  That's funny.  I write two checks a month and if either of those bounced, I would have surely heard from the DA or most certainly my bank by now, or been homeless/without power since I only write checks for rent and utilities.

Smells bogus.

Got a call about a warrant for fraud charges from a bank I never heard of.  Called and they would not identify the issue.

I talked to my local sheriff and he said they are scam. There is not law enforcement agency in the U.S. that will do this. Under no circumstances do you pay them. Contact your state's attorney general office.

Called asking for husband.  Told me had to contact them at this number immediately or appear in District Court in ______________ County.  We live in that County, but we do not have a District Court per se.  We live in a very small town and we have a County Court House, but never heard anyone say District Court in this small town.  LOL

He was rude.  I told him my husband had not written check; that he was totally disabled and I handled the money affairs for him.  The guy just told me he had to hear from my husband by the end of the day or he would go to jail.  REALLY.  SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.  DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY.

got call asking for someone who does not even live here about some paper work that will be filed today in court for fraud. and when i tell them that i am accused of lying and they resume the calls the next day. I dont know who these people are or what they are talking about, but i wish they would just stop calling me. i think i will change my number, i get a couple calls a day. and i am to the point that i hate to answer my phone.
