Another "Verizon Wireless" scam

Received 2 calls today from guys who had the speech patterns of high school drop outs. First call said they wanted to update my account info, second call (later in the day) was to update my text plan. I gave them no information, of course. I called Verizon Wireless to inform them of this obvious scam...there was nothing they could do except put me on that "no unsolicited calls" list.

They probably could give two-damns about their customers having their identities stolen, just as long as they can pay the monthly cell bill.

Call came through from this number today around 5:30pm. I didn't pick up. No voice mail was left. I am a Verizon Wireless subscriber.

I've never picked up for this number but they keep calling and not leaving a message.  I am a verizon wireless customer as well.  Drives me nuts!

Recieved a missed call. Incidentally I just visited a Verizon store yesterday, and the sales guy tried to sell me a phone

I called the number back and THIS is Verizon.
Still I don't want mt text plan updated.

I got a call from this number in my landline, and they hanged when I answered, I have a Verizon line

Just got a call from this #.  Caller said they were Verizon Wireless and that I had exceeded the text messages in my plan and wanted to see if there was a better text message plan for me.

I asked how many messages I had sent in the last pay period.  After a brief pause, she said that I already had a text plan and was sorry for the inconvenince and hung up.  

seemed pretty fishy...

I saw this # on my cell caller id (866-261-8450) and called Verizon customer service (800 922-0204), I was told that this was from a company that Verizon outsources too and they were calling me b/c I exceeded my text message plan and wanted to upgrade me. Even though it turned out to be legit I didn't feel comfortable with Verizon outsourcing my information to companies like this.

Same thing with me.  I am glad to see it's happening to other people.  I don't answer my phone during the day, though, so I just get 'missed calls' from this number, with no messages.  And they won't stop!  Verizon is really getting annoying.  Also getting a lot of texts telling me to upgrade my texting plan.  They say it'll save me money.  Which may be true.  But don't hound me about it. :-p

They have called me 3 times now, not left any messages. I feel violated that Verizon had the balls to sell my information without my consent.  Hmmm, anyone for a Class Action Lawsuit against Verizon for this? I don't expect them to share my information with anyone for any reason, it is given to them for their billing and CS purposes only. They will be getting a nasty call as soon as I am out of work, this WILL Cease.

Pretty much the same as everyone else ... I had a missed call (866-261-8450) a couple days ago, no message ... and another one today ... this better not keep up!!

Don't talk to these people!! My boyfriend works for Verizon and my friend got a call so I asked him about it.  It is not legit.  It is a scam.  Verizon didn't give phone numbers out, they don't know how they get the phone numbers.  Don't give any of your information out!  If you want to change your text plan, go into a store, don't give your account over the phone.

I, too, have Verizon, both land and cell. I received a call from this number while I was not at home. I called it back and spoke to a representative who said it was an investment firm offering free seminar classes.  When I asked how they got my number she said I must have called them.  When I said I never even heard of them she apologized and said they must have misdialed.  Yeah, I bet.  I hope I don't hear from them again!

I get calls from this number all the time, AND TEXTS! It's Verizon Wireless saying I exceed my text message allowance.  DO NOT ANSWER!

I just received a call from this number.  As I do with all unknown numbers I let it go and Google the number, which is how I reached this forum.  I too have approached my text limit for the month, but I just changed my text plan to the next tier before I had to start paying money per text.  It seems from reading this forum that Verizon is outsourcing their service plan sales for anyone that approaches the service limit, correct? I have received texts before of the same nature - my brother just started texting and I've had to up my plan twice!  I have to say I don't mind the notification, but I don't need the sales pitch.  I can upgrade my plan as I need.

I have gotten the same call many times, including today! This is a scam. This is NOT Verizon! Verizon does NOT outsource their business this way (my husband works there...), so do not give them any info! This same number has used difference business fronts to gain personal info!

I called Verizon about this number and they put me on hold for a few minutes so they could "trace the line". They confirmed it was a 3rd party they outsourced too. If you've Googled this number I would still call Verizon just to confirm it for yourself (always nice to get confirmation) but I wanted to make this note so that people know its not a scam. Also if you call Verizon tell them to put you on the do not solicit list. This way for the future you don't get the calls / text messages and also you know if someone calls saying their verizon, you know its a scam.

I just have the new number from Verizon. I have so many "out of area" call and other "Brainstrom USA"............. extremely annoying!!!.
Once I pick up the "out of area" call no one answer

getting 3-5 calls each week from this number. When asked to remove me from their list they agree, but obviously do not comply.
