Rec'd a call from  the merchant United One to set up  a plan to reduce my Credit card debts., in which they stated they checked on my balances to make sure I qualify for their program.  Also stated they would be taking out $489. from the CC, for the services provided .  Is this a legitamite company.  I was sent paperwork to sign and send back to start the process?  The program is called"  The Family Life  and Savings Plan."

These people told me they could lower my credit cards interest rates to under 6% for 1,198.00 dollars. They said their name was United Finance Services. The phone number was also 866-273-1770. I signed their document on line at DocuSign. I canceled this transaction with my credit card. Shortly afterward a charge showed up on one of my bank cards that I did not charge. I am disputing both charges. I thought this was legitimate until I called my credit card companies. They said that they do not have an alliance with these people and they can not lower my interest rates. They will just take your money. I feel so bad that I fell for this and now I filed a fraud alert. They also got my ss number , date of birth, codes on back of credit cards and account numbers, phone numbers, etc. I should have known better. I just hope I can stop this and they get caught.

    Linda,

I got a call from this very same group today.  May I ask if you have had any success resolving this matter?  I have not signed any documents and, after reading your post, I may just put a hold on my credit card.  They gave me the same line they gave you only the fee is $498 because I'm in such "good standing" with my payments.

To all concerned, I have traced this company to a fictitious name in Florida called  Smith & Associates OGT.  The company's real name is Great Soul Investment Corp.  On the phone, they identify themselves as United Financial Services and attempt to charge your card under the name United One.  If you'd like to look up the fictitious name, you can run a search under FL Dept of State.  This group does NOT have a relationship with over 500 banks, they are NOT rated by the BBB and I have been unable to locate an SEC registration.  The information they tell you over the phone is not only a scam, but constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation, a criminal act.  I hope anyone who reads this finds it helpful.  If you have given them your account information, I encourage you to close your account and have the bank re-issue your card with a different #.

Received a call from 866-273-1770.  They said they were United Financial and they could guarantee me a lower interest rate of 6.9 or lower on my 1 and only credit card.  Impossible, I as a consumer have just as much clout with a CC company.  Granted I was sick and coming out of a nap when they called.  They charged my card $1,500.00.  I forgot this ever happened till i received a call from them, a week later, trying to set me up for an appointment over the phone.  Told them I wanted to cancel.  They talked and beat around the bush till I finally agreed to a phone consultation. They also sent me a welcome package with a contract in it.  Package looked like it was done by a Kindergartner. Prior to the consultation, I called them back and again, with more determination, told them I wanted to cancel.  Spoke to a Michelle Carter, after holding for 30-40 minutes.  I had to electronically sign the contract and a cancellation letter in order for a refund to be processed.  Didn't want to sign the contract, but was brow beat and told it was the only way to get a cancellation.  Called a week later to check on the cancellation.  Was told it was refused because wasn't  within the first 72 hours.  Go figure.  They kept saying the only option I had was to let them try and lower my interest rate.  I have now disputed the charge with my CC company.  Hope I get my money back.  Red flag after red flag, boy do I feel stupid.  Don't get taken by this company.   Referred to as Smith & Associates over phone.  Family Life and Savings Plan brochure included with welcome packet.  Billed on my CC as UNITEDONE 1.

She got me to an advisor right away because i wouldn't wait. I can't believe all that i owed was brought down to a 6.24%...Did i think it was possible,no..My bank told me it wasn't. However I'm so grateful so Terry me and you both are success stories that needed to be shared

I worked for the company I am on a leave right now. This is a real company and real program. anyone that says its not must not have went through the whole program. Like all things it takes time. for the man that said you could do it yourself, go a head and try and tell me what new rate you get. there are companies out there that are not real but this one does service clients and if they cant show a savings they will refund the client. each person pays a different enrollment amount because its based off total debt and standing. people that go through the program and work with the financial adviser they will see a difference. Of course the bank will tell you that they don't work with companies like ours do you think they want you to get a lower rate? no they are making money off you. You are a profit,,so yes you pay someone to help you get on track its an investment into your financial life!!! If they wanted to scam people they would charge more than you authorized, and wouldn't answer the phone again. If you call that number someone always answers. On top of all that you guys all went through a voice recording agreeing to the terms,, than another verification where you got your appointment time, and signed paperwork. None of you were tricked into the program you did it because you need the help.
