I received a message on my answering machine saying I would receive a delivery from Omaha Steaks, and should call this numder if I didn't receive the shipment.  No delivery, I could not verify the number.

December 18, 2008, received a call from 800-329-6500 claiming to be from Omaha Steaks.  The caller said that a package would be delivered on Wednesday, December 23, and would be perishable.  They also left a call back number, which I did not call,  1-866-282-1234.

What was strange about this, was that about 2 hours earlier, I met a box van with Omaha Steaks on it's sides on our subdivision road.  This is a very isolated road in the mountains, and only homeowners should be on the road.

This truck stopped me and tried to sell me some steaks, said he had been at one of my neighbors homes. So far, I haven't found any of my neighbors that have ordered anything from Omaha Steaks.

I too received a message from "Omaha Steaks" saying that someone had sent us a gift of Omaha steaks that would be delivered Dec.15. I called the number back and spoke with a customer rep. I asked who had sent us the steaks, but she said she could not give out that information. I told her not to send the steaks if that was the case. She said OK and hung up. She didn't ask my name, my address, or any information that would allow her to cancel the delivery. Very strange.

It is not a scam, or hoax.  I got that call this morning, didn't recognize the number so I let it go to the answering machine.  I called the 866-282-1234 number to see if it was a hoax.  The guy answered "Omaha Steaks", and confirmed my address without me mentioning what it was, and said that it is authentic, but couldn't reveal the name of the sender.  So, I'm thinking that it could still be a sufisticated scam, so I contacted the Omaha Steaks headquarters to see if they could confirm the authenticity of this call.  It was indeed authentic.
So if you get this unexpected call, just call the Omaha Steaks headquarters at   1-800-228-9872 .

Seems like this is still going on. Got a message on my work phone about a delivery. I didn't call back because I figured it had to be a scam - NO ONE has my work number.

Received the same message as all the others regarding upcoming delivery of Omaha Steaks and to call 866-282-1234.  I am also on "do not call list" but doesn't seem to stop this kind of call.

Just received the message from Omaha Steaks saying I have a gift coming and to make sure to put the perishable contents in the freezer.  Hoping it's legitimate and looking forward to some steaks  :-)

Received a call with no message left but am expecting a delivery from Omaha steaks as a Christmas gift from my sister.  The annoying part of this is there was no message left, they called twice this morning (on a Sunday) and the first call at 9am.

 This number is a valid Omaha Steaks number. I got a one-ringer, looked it up and found Omaha Steaks. I called and, sure enough, our kids are sending us a package. I think my phone company spam filter stopped the call after the one ring. So I did not get any voice mail.

1+866-282-1234 called me but did not identify themselves.  maybe omaha dropped it
and some scammer has hijacked the number to scam people...?

1+866-282-1234 called my phone but hung up and when i called it asked for my age and
did NOT identify itself as an omaha steak number.  now when i call it, it says it's not supported
from "my area".  if omaha steaks were still using this number, it should be listed on their site.
i am blocking it.

I would definitely question this actually being Omaha Steaks because why would they want to know your age and why WOULDN'T they identify themselves?

Received calls from this number too, two today (Saturday), first one at 9am  Did not pick up, figured I'd check here first, glad I did.

have received numerous calls from "800 service" 866-282-1234 .   never leaves a message  i'm going to block it
