- Daughter of a DebtorI received a call from this number at 1pm. I didn't answer. No message was left. I called the number back, and got an automated system. It said "Welcome to EOS CCA", that someone would be with me in just a moment, and gave options to make a payment. I stayed on for a moment long and it said "Retrieving your account information now." I hung up before then. I have never had a debt that has gone into collections, and I do not have one now. However, I do have several relatives who have bad debts, so I have an idea why they are calling. Telling my family members' debt collectors to stop calling me is getting old.

- Personal and PrivateGot a call from this number at work. I asked him to repeat the company name and he did - as unintelligibly as the first time. I told him I still did not get the company name and asked what they do. He said: "Its personal and private, sir" and hung up on me. Real genius.

- Some AdviceIf this is a debt collection company, then they ARE a for-profit company and must obey all state and federal laws concerning for-profit companies.
If they are a legit company they must tell you:
-The company name
-Their name as an agent of this company
-A telephone contact number
-Who they are trying to contact
-They cannot contact you at work - unless you have given them permission to do so
If they refuse to give you this information then they are nothing more than scammers and you should treat them as such. A legit company SHOULD ALWAYS tell you the company name and who they are.
If you do talk to them, they have given you their full name and contact info, and you are not the person they are looking for:
-TELL them to stop calling and to remove your name and number from their records.
-If they say they will not, file a formal complaint with the FTC and maybe your state attorney general.
-If you know the person they are looking for, you do not have to take a message for anyone under circumstances unless you have agreed to take messages for them. You are not legally responsible for other adults.
-If you did take a message ONCE for someone and these people keep calling back, tell them to stop!
-If they refuse to stop harassing you, file a formal complaint with the FTC and maybe your state attorney general.
Once you tell a caller (for-profit or not not) to stop calling, the law requires them to not call you again for a minimum of 1 year. If they do they are in violation of federal law and you should always file complaints. This applies to those callers that the DNC laws don't apply to for first calls, such as charities, political callers, survey callers, and even companies you have done business with.
It is impossible to stop scammers, who never follow any law of any country ever, from calling you.
-Never talk to them and try to reason with them - they are making illegal calls trying to commit fraud, they DO NOT CARE what you think or what the law is.
-Never call any number back unless you know EXACTLY who it is - it could cost you a lot of money or only allow more scammers to call your number.
-Always ignore the calls, buy a phone set that allows for blocking numbers and block each one (Panasonic has some new sets that allow for blocking up to 250 numbers), use a site like NoMoRobo if it works for your service carrier, etc.- Caller: 800 Number
