- mrcn replies to illinois| 1 replyHello folks, I'm new this message board. Thank you to all, especially Illinois, for posting some very valuable information. May I ask where you found the info concerning 3000 lawsuits against NCO Financial? I think I owe Columbia House. However, if NCO has a very bad reputation, I do not trust them as they may be trying to collect an invalid debt which was never assigned to them by Columbia House. If it is a valid debt, how can NCO Financial be trusted to report the debt as paid to Columbia House?
Good luck to all who have problems with the slimey people! - EricAs with mrcn I"m new to this message board too. I also have to thank Illinois for the helpful info. Unlike most people here I actually had a voicemail from them with a name and a call-back number. That number is 1-866-701-1275 which, I assume, is a direct line for that person at NCO.
- JMI get calls from this same number. Everytime they call, i get a "you have a call, please hold" message. I hang up. But it is annoying.
- aksharTheir toll free number is 800-220-2274. They were looking for someone who had the same last name as me. They promised to remove me from the list!
- Caller: NCO
- Mike| 1 replyI've been getting these calls for about 6 months.I have spoken to an individual who would not identify himself.I told him to take my # off his list,he said there is no list-it's a residential #.Itold him I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He said ther would be a pretty good wait. I said if they are so busy he should call me and identify himself as a supervisor of that company. He stalled more so I got more and more crude to him.As I was calling him a pea-brain and insulting his lineage I was transferred to a Ryan who said I shouldn't be rude to him.I told I'll tak any way I want you're the a--hole that keeps calling me.After telling him not to call many times and getting nowhere I started getting crude with him too.He finally hung up.So far the next day I've had 2 more calls.I've also turned in 9 seperate complaints with donotcall.gov.

- Amanda replies to Terri| 17 repliesI just did some research on that same phone number and I learned that NCO Financial is a kind of agency known as a "junk debt buyer" - which means that they buy old, outdated debt information from companies we might have had a relationship with in the past, and then try to collect on that old debt even though it is very probable we don't owe on it anymore. The Springboard website has a fact sheet on this problem - they are a non-profit consumer credit management company with some really good information - http://www.credit.org/pdf/JunkDebtBuyersFactSheet.pdf. Their web address is www.credit.org
- The Collection Agency buster replies to KatIf they are calling your cell phone there is a way to stop them from doing so.
In most phones if you go into Security features and selecting incoming calls then select the option that says phone book.by doing this the only people who will be able to call you on your cell phone is people who are in your phonebook on your cell phone.
If they are important enough they will be able to call you...If it is somebody who is not on your phone book they will simply get a rapid busy signal each and everytime they call...
Don't worry your phone willl never ring when they try to call.
I did this about 4 months ago and my cell has never been so quiet.
Hope this helps - NotReallyAmanda replies to AmandaCredit.org has posted this message everywhere they find a phone number on their list. It is spam and is only meant to try and get people to visit their website and use their "non-profit" but still money making services.
- Nancythis number was calling me on a daily basis. most of the time i wouldn't answer. today when i answered they asked for someone that doesn't live here. i think i found a way to block them from calling me again. i have comcast digital voice. i add the number to my call screening list. hopefully that will work.
- PeteI called this number today to payoff someone else's debt. And it states it is NCO but does not take incoming calls. Hows that for changing numbers?

- BlakeI've been getting these calls for the past 2-3 weeks...usually once a day and always in the morning when i'm not awake so i've yet to answer any of the calls...And it's confusing cause they're calling my cell phone, I don't have a credit card, and i don't pay any bills yet...so i'm hoping when i answer they'll realize they have the wrong person and stop but i don't know
- OhioWow, that's amazing! I recently started getting these phone calls, once even while I was in church on my cell phone. I didn't pick it up, but it sure was embarassing because I didn't even remember that it was on in my purse. I too called the number and it said that I shouldrefer to my letter or message for a callback # because the number in which they left for me was not able to receive incoming messages. Go figure! How can they be stopped?

- Dave866-287-2543 calls several times a day. I now disregard the calls but they certainly are annoying.
- Dianna replies to Jerre H. ChumleyI live in Florida too. I have received numerous calls from 1-866-287-2543 starting at 8:00 a.m.! I called this number back and received a pre-recorded message saying that this number cannot receive incoming calls. I googled the phone number to find that it belongs to NCO Financial in Pennsylvania. Found an excellent website www.ethannonsequitur.com that gives great info on NCO Finanicial, who they are, how to report them to the PA Atty. General and a bunch of other good info.
- DiannaThis company calls all the time. Because their name is not showing on my caller ID I do not pick up the phone and talk to them. However they have left distorted messages telling me to call back and refer to reference#_______. I haven't called them back. It's just plain annoying and they'll call up to 10-15 times a day starting at 8:00 a.m.

- David FortuneThese guys are a real pain. I have recently become a client of a credit restoration place. www.nationalcreditrebuilders.com and what they told me to do if I had problems with collectors is to give them this number and then hang up. IT WORKED. They stopped calling. Here is the phone number. It seems to scare creditors. I heard if they leave their information that someone calls and becomes abusive to the collectors. 212-561-5154 - Hope this helps someone

This number always calls my phone and hangs up or there is noone there. Today I got fed up and did some research. I found out that NCO Financial is a junk collection agency that buys expired and terminated information from other agencys even if you never heard of them or owed any money.
I found the contact page on there site, it has all of there head office numbers on it. I live in canada so I called the canadian office and pretty much told them to stop or I would call the police and they complied and have not called me back since. I told her that I would post all the numbers and she said that it was illegal and I would be charged. Obviously this is not against any law so here it is...

Call them and ask to a manager or supervisor. The secratery will probably transfer you to some [***] server. Hang up and call back and demand a person not a machine.
This really works I have done it and they removed my phone number.
