Phone rang, checked caller ID and saw that number started with 866 and unavailable. This is from past calls a sign of a telemarketer. Do what I do when they call - Be rude and waste their TIME. If they say a bad word, points for me. If they hang up before I do, it makes my day.Computer calls suck-no fun talking to machine. Bring on the live person.Wins for me 6 loses 0.

They're trying to sell a product or service related to Discover Card.

I get calls from this company at all hours of the day up until 9pm. They will not leave a message.  I work at home, and they interrupt my day with their incessant ringing.  I don't pick up for solicitors, but through research I've discovered that they are selling a service related to the Discover card, which is a card my husband owns.  So being on the Do Not Call registry doesn't apply to them. I never give out my real phone number to businesses for this very reason, but my husband gave out our real number to these people.  I hate them.  I still love my husband, though.

I am getting these calls to. I called back asking them to stop calling, but i was told it takes 8 to 10 weeks! Why does it take so long?!

Every time they call, I call right back bitching at them. I know I'll never get my number taken off the list since I've been so rude to them.

They even said, once is cancel the card, they will still call!

Once the card is canceled, they will still call me. Because, since they aren't discover card, they won't know when I do cancel the card.

Holy cow, how do I end this suffering.  I run to answer the phone 5 times a day, when it's THEM !!!  I never answer.  I can't add them to my Call Block list because it's an 866 number.  This sucks!

This number calls my phone three times a day, and shows as "Unavailable" on the caller ID.  I have picked up a couple times and there is silence on the line until I make a noise...then the click of a real person picking up.  At this point, the person asks for me...and then I hang up.  They won't leave a message.

Why is it the DNC register doesn't apply to them?

Even answering the phone made no difference; no one spoke after I said "hello."  I phoned Discover's Customer Service at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) and told them I wanted the calls stopped.  I was told by a pleasant sounding young lady that I would be added to their do not solicit list.  Time will tell.

I did what JD (29 Sep 2007) did. I Called 1-800-347-2683, spoke to an account manager. I asked to have the call recorded. Told him to put me on the do not solicit list.  If phone calls that come twice a day do not stop,I will cancel the Discover card. They get a nice payment from me monthly because I put everything on my Discover Card.   They will get my chopped up card next month along with a tube of KY jelly.

Now they are calling me. Let's see today I believe I got at least 8 calls from telelmarketers. It seems to get worse every day.

This phone number 866-290-4961 -- identified on Caller ID only as "Toll Free" calls my machine and leaves no message a couple of times a week, at all hours of the day and night. I called the number today and they said they were selling Identity Theft Protection through Discover Card... only $12.99 a month charged to my Discover Card. When I asked them to stop calling they started asking for all kinds of personal information. I hung up.

Called again, guess it will never end. I answered the phone, but now am not saying anything to see what happens. No one seemed to be there.

Called again this AM, already. I now turn on the phone, but do not day anything. No one seems to be there. Guess it is voice activated. I must think of some way to have fun with them.
