Ordered magazines but canceled according to cancellation policy, they kept calling and renewed order now stating order cannot be canceled.  After speaking to a representative the very next day, he was very rude, irate and stated order could no longer be canceled. I have never received any of the magazines, they are continuing to try to take money from my account!

You have to contact the consumer protection board.  I contacted them and told them what happened and they wrote back that they sent heartland something.  A few days later, they sent me a statement heartland sent them, saying that they will cancelour "agreement".  Also if that doesnt work contact the attorney general.

I have received emails and phone calls from this scamming magazine subscription service ripoff group. I had $60 taken from my checking acct and the bank claimed they told them I had authorized it over my home phone. I did not of course do any such thing.

I just got a letter that we "must cancel within ten business day."
Of course, there is only voice mail when I call!

Anyway, the advice to call the Consumer Protection people....which ones?
From the State I live (Georgia) the state of the scam's origin (Iowa)
or is there a national agency? When I Google Consumer Protection all I get is many links to different states' agencies.

We have been receiving these calls everyday, they will play you a recording with fast talk that you will agree to because you think it is for 99 dollars total. I have given Ashton Ades (claims to be a supervisor)my attorney's name and have instructed him that i will not pay and I am tired of the calls.

Heartland contacted myself and gave the same BS. Read off the cedit account number and just asked for the last 4 digits. Not thinking, I gave it to them. Then they tried to put over $1000.00 on my card. When that did not work, they tried calling me every day at least 4 times a day. I just kept giving them the runaround.Thats when they said they would mail me. I received that mailing on 2/26/2009.

I got a call from them and, I should have known it was a scam with the way that they started off. They had my work and other personal information and while them asking me for my crd number made me uncomfortable, I was tired and I ended up giving them the number. After several attempts to tell him that I did not want to pay them anything because I had already paid my subscription in full, he talked me into a payment plan for 20 payments of $39.90/month to start on the 9th of May and not ten minutes off the phone with him there is a charge for $79.80 on my card. I called back the number that he gave me and it is a recording for a messaging service telling me to leave my info and they will route my call to the appropriate person and get back to me. I am very pissed off right now that I didn't go with my gut and hang up on them as soon as they asked for my card number!!

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR INFORMATION. I HAVE ALREADY CALLED MY BANK TO DISPUTE THE CHARGES AND I WILL BE TALKING TO MY BOSS, A LAWYER, ABOUT THIS IN THE MORNING.

These pieces of crap people tried to scam me out of 700.00, the paper they sent me had magazines for 4 to 5 years ago and of that was a gift. I dont know what these peoples' problems are, but they need to shove their head in a toilet, or boiling lava.

I too received a call from Heartland telling me my second half of my agreement would be kicking in for the magazines I had ordered from them.  I tried to tell the jerk on the phone I had not ordered from them, did not want to pay any more, and to cancel anything still on their books.  He told me I could not cancel.  He was rude, arrogrant, and a shouter.  I told him if he could not talk in a civil voice, I was going to hang up.  He said he was being civil and just telling me the facts.  After a few more words, I finally let him talk to Mr. Click (hung up).  Don't know if I will receive any charges on my bank statement or credit card.  Hope not.

I too have been charged.  My credit card company is now holding these charges and verlying whether this is a scam or not.  First they charged my debt/credit card for $99.80 in June 2009.  Then every month they have charged me $49.90.  I have disbuted the charges.  I have been receiving bogus magazines.  I have tried cancelling but company refusing to call me back.  I had to cancel my debt/credit card because the bank says if you have a debt/credit card and you use online and order anything, then money altermatic comes out of your bank account.  So, I cancelled my debt/credit card and established JUST a debt card.  This way no one can use it without using a pin number.

I received a call for Heartland Inc. Was led to beleive I was renewing my Time subscription ONLY. They they hit my Discover card for 99.20 an the told me in a invoice I had to pay 49.60 for 18 months for a total of 892.80  Called and Discover stopped all payments.  Now receiving calls from Heartland every day.
Told them this was not the agreement and cancell all agreements. I was told they could not cancel anything. I am now just ignoring everything. Any ideas as to what I should do. I am over 70 years old and do not know how to handle things such as this.
