They stated that my neighbor put me down as a reference in the next apartment from me. Which there is no neighbor of that name near me. Sounds like a scam to me. But they did have my first and last name. Also, it was a real human being.
Weird.

This is General Revenue Corporation a debt collector always using the reference statement.

Also it is related to sallie mae education loans.

got a call from them wasn't sure wut they wanted tho cuz they just left the number and a reference number.

Calls from 317 806-8712 Caller ID shows "GRC" from Fishers, IN.  Asks for a name I nevere heard of to return call to Marty at 866-292-5084.

A total scam DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!
THEY WILL SAY YOU ARE A REFERENCE FOR SOMEONE AND TRY TO COLLECT A "DEBT".
The people they told me I knew or signed for were "Renee Smith" and someone else, they could'nt get their story right after I pressured them to tell me what they wanted and who they are...it took me 3 representatives to get their name of the company and one of them laughed at me saying they WERE legit after I looked them up online and told them I did not trust them...I told them that identity theft is not funny to me...they said not to call back and would take care of it...I said I would have my attorney call them and they said oh oh oh no no that's ok we will not call we were just trying to FIND Renee Smith...bye...

Got 2 messages from this number today. I googled and found this site and another similar regarding GENERAL REVENUE CORP., so when i called them back I was ready to fight hehe. I have no reason for any creditors to be calling me, so I was itchin' to find out what they had to say. Right off the bat they wanted to "verify my birth date" I told them no, she stated she will have to transfer me, I said "go ahead" then she stated the next person is just going to ask me to verify my birth date also. I said "whatever, transfer me" The next girl was Crystal, and on her behalf she was very polite. I told her right up front that I was not going to give her any personal information about myself or anyone else unless she tells me first, exactly why her company was calling me. She right away told me they were looking to find a person with my name, but with a different middle initial and different birth date. I told her they have the wrong guy and she told me she would put my number on the do not call list. Let's see if they call again. Just thought I'd share.  :)

I say we call back and give them all of the wrong info!

Constant messages for the wrong person from 317-806-8712.  Message says to call this number (866-292-5084) and provide a reference number.  I tried calling back to get the calls to stop and they said the refence number is invalid and wanted MY information.  Tried 2-3 times then blocked number from calling.
