Recieved a statement for a Paypal account that I do not have.  Called them and was asked for personal info.  

DO NOT CALL AND GIVE PERSONAL INFO!

Information comes too late.  I got a phone number from pay pay, but it was a phishing occuring.  So I called the number trying to discuss my account. They asked the same questions Paypal does, so I didn't know.  Until I checked pay pal later and found the numbers were different.  Too late.  They got my SSN, so now I'm going all over reporting the theft, with FTC, and putting high alerts on my credit.  What else can I do?

Hopefully you changed you login information right away. I never trust people calling me. I just verified that this number is not from paypal since i saw some sites online that have this number on it. See below these are some examples:

Yesterday I called the number on my paypal account, not my credit card master card extras and i just noticed on my Paypal Master card that this number (866-300-6432) is on the back ( to call for assistance). I have been using my card for awhile so looks like this number is correct, not fake. Kinda wierd. not sure why they are calling me since I am making all my payments on time, tho.

this is a credit mastercard offered via paypal.no problem what so ever.

Received an authentic-looking credit card bill in the mail for Paypal Mastercard Extra that I DID NOT sign up for nor make any transactions on--or even receive in the mail! Called and they asked for my social security number.

this is the SAME number that appears on the PayPal Extras statement.  i don't know where these scaremongers are coming from, but they're flat wrong.  it is legitimate !

This actually is legit. GE is the backer for Paypals new MC, I have one and this was the number listed on my credit report. I was looking for their fax number and found this site. FYI

Yes this is a paypal number showed up on my credit card statement. But what makes me curious is I have paperless statements and got a statement in the mail.

This happened to me tonight.  I don't have an account with them and I got tonight from a lady who said she was GE Capital on behalf of paypal.  She asked for my address, DOB and SS#.  She claimed I have an account, but couldn't give me the account number. She said I owed them money and asked for another bank acct for payment.  I refused to give her any info and asked that she give me a number I could call.  She gave me 8663006432. Before calling the number, I searched and found this website. She had called from a different number 9165350028.  Called that number back about 30 minutes later and it had already been disconnected.  Definitely a SCAM!!!

I'm not quite sure what this is but I can't really look it up and so I don't know what to do. They left a voicemail, I wasnt able to answer the phone call. Some place out of Orlando Florida the p.o box number 965005

I got a call from this number. It is their fraud alert number. Someone had accessed my account and charged over $500 ro my card. After checking with me that I did not make these purchases, they removed the charges, cancelled my card and sent me a new one with a new number

I called PAYPAL and was directed to Royal seas cruise. First it asked me if I could complete a short survey. Would I like to go to Florida ? Would I like to go on a cruise if it was given to me free? Would I like to go to the Bahamas. I said yes to all three. Then a telemarketer comes on the phone and said I have won a free 2day 2 night cruise for 2 adults. He talks about 15 minutes then said all I need is your card number  to pay for port taxes. $65.00 per person. I said I do not have the money. He quickly hung up. I called pay pal and they said they do business with PAYPAL master card. It was not them but that bank must use telemarketers. They do not use that number. She wanted me to call them and explain to them what happened. NO you should do that! The only reason I decided to get a card was because it said it was a PAYPAL credit card. But if they allow telemarketers to call me and scam me out of money then I don't need a PayPal account. I would think they would do business with better reputable bank. BEWARE!!!

I am trying to make a payment on my pay pal account and keep getting an error message. They transferred me back and forth to numerous people and put me on hold numerous times. When I finally get a person again they send me to a voice prompt asking me for my full credit card number and my full social security number. (Which I did NOT give to them). I hung up and did a search for 1-866-300-6432 and came up with a page explaining this was a scam. I'm not sure what to do because I do NOT want to be late on a payment. This is a different number than the PayPal contact me number.

Log on to your paypal account.  Go to summary page.  Click on resolutions.  It
will tell you how to resolve the problem.  Absolutely DO NOT call the number
listed here.  Total scam.

This is the legit number for PayPal MasterCard. I mailed evidence to dispute a charge and they called me to tell me they received it and would resolve the dispute in 14 days. They did NOT ask for any verification information. ALWAYS WHEN IN DOUBT HANG UP and call the number on the back of your credit card as PayPal has switched some accounts to credit card accounts as they did mine..
