I got a call from a Transworld Inc. left on my answering machine.  They did not address us by name but did mention that they were a debt collection agency and to call Miss Miller at 1 866 307 0544.  Is this legitimate call or a scam trying to get our I.D. thefted?

Call from 800-291-4367 asking to call the above number and ask for Wendy Higgins.  Have been getting calls from Transworld at the above number for weeks.  I returned called, asked for Wendy Higgins, I did not have to supply my telephone number or name, she asked for someone who does not live at my home.  I told her that and she said they would remove my number from their list.

Apparently, the name left to call back is how they key to the particular debt they are trying to collect.  Make note of that, call them back and they will stop harassing you if you are not the person they are looking for.  That is why Randy could not get them to stop calling his father.

Just got a call from this number, didn't reach the call on time but they didn't leave a message. I called back and all they said was that this call may be recorded and never addressed me by name. I hung up. Sounds like a scam.

866-307-0544 is TRANSWORLD  a debt collector.  The sad thing is I'm making payments to who I owe. so why are you still calling me, leaving no messages or identifying who you are but I know who you are.
It's very harrassing -calling early morning between 7-9am and at night between 9pm-10pm.  I don't answer. Put them on your reject list..block'em out.

got the same thing! even asking for the same name as mentioned above, "Wendy Higgins". THey removed me from the list, but did not provide me with an actual explanation of their intend.

Watch out. They call from different numbers daily. I have 8 different numbers saved in my phone for them! Pretty tricky! It is Transworld and they are a collection agency. Not nice people either.

By law they are required to open the call with the Name of the company they work for and the fact they are attempting to collect a debt. They are scouting for information to locate people they are attempting to collect a debt on.
Collection companies will call family, friends, ex-spouses, employees and others in order to locate debtors, BUT they must ID themselves and they cannot disclose anything regarding the account other than they are looking for the debtor.
If they do discuss anything about the debt with anyone other than the debtor they have broken s Federal Law which superceeds local and state laws...

A good skip tracer can find anyone from the time that person turns 18, what you were doing, who you were doing it with and where.. This is another reason not to give out cell and land line numbers and addresses erroneously. This is also why contracts require DOB, Social Security numbers, your moms maiden name.. Once it is out there it all becomes public record...

These jerks have been calling (and talking) to my fax machine for several months (sometimes several times per day). I'll say this for them, they are nothing if not persistent.

I love messing with chumps like these. Transworld has hundreds of number. I receive a call or 2 a day ( I think) from them. I have 10 or so of their numbers saved in my phones memory and I have programmed my phone so when they call, the call is automatically forwarded back to their own call back number. Its as if they have called themselves. The best part is my phone never makes a sound and I am never disturbed. And if by chance they call from a different number, I just add it to the forward list. Today’s smartphones are soo wonderful.

Very frightening - Im alone with small sleeping children, they just called and the voice (female) says "bye" and then click -- I rang star 69 and this was the number - I dont think I have any unpaid debts out there.... I also dont know how to block and since they didnt ask for someone I dont know who they wanted.... it may be they just want to know if its a n active number

I wish I could do that.. They call me atleast 5 times a day.. sometimes at 8:55 pm..     They wre VERY RUDE to my daughter..   and she is a minor!!

I don't know about any other service, but Verizon Wireless has a call block feature now. You have to go through the website to set it up. Wasn't long ago, you couldn't stop calls without getting a new phone number.

I never thought to forward thier calls back to them!  OMG this is going to be so much fun.  I can forward them to people I don't like, a payphone, a phone at the casino... so many options!

Definitely debt collectors.   Getting calls from them claiming to be trying to collect on a medical bill.   Thing is.. I have a payment arrangement with the doctor in question, and while these dirtbags keep claiming I owe the original amount, I've paid every 2 weeks, with every paycheck for 3 months as agreed with the doctor's office and I only owe a three more payments to the cardiologist to have it paid off!  

The doctor's office has even told them to desist and they keep calling!

The doctor's office screwed up the original billing..a fact they have admitted in writing..  they had the wrong address for me..  wrong city, wrong street, wrong zip.. wrong EVERYTHING.. which is odd but hey I didn't put the information into their computer and I did give them the correct address when I filled out their foms..

I've been making payments to the doctor directly, and I have 3 more payments to have it paid in full.

I've almost paid off the debt entirely and yet that rude woman who answers the phone claims I owe Transword the full amount!

I don't think so!

Horrible people...   wish I knew where they were located.. I'd pay them a personal visit..
