- Staci| 2 repliesThey called my brother asking for me. I called the number, a woman answered immediately but with just a hello. I said "I believe you called me." She said "hold on", there was silence and then she said she was from Stark Recovery and she was calling about a pending litigation on me for a defaulted pay day loan in 2012. I tried to question her on why this is the first I have heard anything on this "supposed loan default" in 3 years, that I recall no such loan and have never received any mail, email or calls on it before. She refused to answer my questions but read my SS# to me and Told me "I cannot give you anything in writing that I haven't already said to you. You have two options: pay me $550 NOW and we will stop the legal action or face litigation and fines of $2,500 if u don't." I questioned her more and told her if this were legit, I would have things in writing or she could provide it to me. She got nasty and told me they would proceed with the litigation and hung up on me. When I tried to call back numerous times, no one answers.

- VicWhen in doubt file an FTC complaint. I took a I'll collector to court a couple years ago and that company settled out of court a few weeks before the court date. I filed in US District Court.
