An unidentified caller left a message providing 866-321-8539 as a callback number for CitiCard regarding my account.  It is NOT the customer service number printed on the back of my card.

I have gotten calls from this number 3 days in a row. The automated recording says my name and that it was "Citi" and not Citibank. The recorded voice also says it is regarding my account. What account they don't say. I have not called back.

Ok, this is a legit Citicard number. I just saw 866-321-8539 on an email they sent me. It looks like they are trying to enroll people in a program to pay down your balance by giving them an incentive. It's called the "Payment Partner Program".

That doesn't mean the number is legitimate.  It may mean the scammer uses both the telephone and the internet.

If you owe money to CitiBank and are interested in that sort of program call the number on your card, the number on your statement, or do a web search for their site and find a phone number.  Do not trust a link you get in e-mail, it may be from a scammer.

it's to set up sometype of payment plan of something.. it's like a third party with citi. Call citi to have them stop.

Yep - I knew it was suspicious. Call came asking for my elderly mother in automated pre-recorded voice, to call back at that number and to "have her 16-digit account number ready". I called the number to Citibank from their legit website where you report suspicious emails and such, and the rep who answered was nice, but said she does not recognize the number, didn't know of the scam (or didn't admit it), that they have hundreds of different numbers out there, but did admit that any cal from Citibank (or "Citi")l should state the specific reason for calling. We are going to ignore for now. If we keep on getting these calles, I think more has to be done legally. We are also on the "do not call list", but that hasn't helped much. Citibank should be warning people about these calls.
