- Taylor| 46 repliesI received a very threatening-sounding message on my answering machine. "This is Gary King from over here at Rueben and Yates, there has been a formal complaint filed against you..." The message certainly got my attention so, I called the number back. Sure, enough, it was Rubin and Yates! I don't recall the name of the man I spoke with but he had my maiden name, SSN AND address! Needless to say, I was in shock. He then proceeded to tell me that I had "better hire an Attorney," in response to my denial that I had received a "Beneficial loan in 1999 that was paid on until May 2004." I told him several times that it wasn't my loan. He all but called me a liar! After 3 or 4 rounds of 'no it isn't/yes,it is, I just laughed at him. He got a little 'pissy' then and, in response to my request that he send me some paperwork as proof, he said, "I'll be happy to" and then he hung up on me!

- Don replies to Taylor| 20 repliesTaylor,
Rubin and Yates has violated Federal law here, as they have also done with me. I am preparing a civil suit against them and would love to get more details from you. Please contact me at mail@donw.com.
Thanks,
dw - Person| 3 repliesReceived a similar call from this "firm" from a man named Garrett. Something is fishy here. Very similar to the above information. I smell a scam...

- jbroI have received several threatening phone calls from these guys as well. They never leave messages and when I answer it---they simply hang up. They have left several dirty messages at my old contact info. (parents house), but none at my new address---which they do not have.
The last message was threatening to file a suit or get a judgement against me in the current county that I live in....which confuses me since they do not have my address and I know my parents did not release any info. to them.
I have not called them back as I do not want to acknowledge the debt(which is not valid anyways....). They say I owe $XXXX from a creditor that I have never had an account with. I've checked my credit report over several times to make sure. Theses guys are crazy. Should I send them a do not call letter certified or what?
Thanks

- Dave| 2 repliesMy sister recieved a call from a company claiming that they are looking for me and have my SSN. They said I need to contact them with 48 hours, otherwise they will have to take this to another level. I have no idea what this is about, as my credit report is clean. They call themselves reuben and yates, but nobody returns my call and now when I call it says all lines all busy.
Thanks - GA| 2 repliesI got a call from Rubin and Yats from this number. They asked for a woman who has been giving my phone number out for about a year and a half. All of the calls for her have been from creditors. I have no idea who she is and never heard her name before these calls started. My number is unlisted so I don't know if she just pick random numbers and hit on mine.

- sweeney| 3 repliesI got a call from rubin and yates , mr. alan helped me , he was very proffesional, and settled out one of my old debts for 50 percent of the original balance. I admit i do have credit problems, everyone complaining needs to fess up to their bills and just work with your creditors instead of against them. Thank you rubin and yates, for all your assistance.
- John Marshall| 2 repliesLook these guys are crooks, they purchase old debt and they try to scare people into paying for credit cards by hitting darts and hoping they get the right person. The don't care if the right person or the wrong person pays. Legitimate agency's don't discuss your information on random answering machines, resort to threats that lead to lawsuits, try to scare family members of people. These guys purchase junk debt and try to collect on it by scaring people. My advice would be to go to budhibbs.com. Use Google and educate your self on what they can and can not do. Save and tape your conversations with these guys. You should only be so lucky to get a call from these guys, they make it easy to file a complaint for those who are smart enough to research what they can and can no do

- st| 3 repliesLook, this guy john marshall is a former employee of rubin and yates. i currently work there. It seems like everyone is trying to avoid their bills and financial problems by coming on here to complain. John marshall failed miserabally as far as negotiating settlements with debtors, and he should be ashamed of himself. Thats what rubin and yates does, we serve as a third party to settle out your debts for close to 50 cents on the dollar. Rather than have a r9 on your credit report, you can settle your debt out for pennies on the dollar and improve your credit score. Its no different than any of the other 50 plus credit repair specialist companies around western new york. Anyone complaining needs to understand that there are consequences to borrowing thousands of dollars and not paying it back. You can either rectify it now, or deal with a court situation demanding payment. P.s. you can cofirm that... two thumbs up. you know what im talking about john marshall.
- EtobianIf the debt is so old it's past the state statute of limitations, the debt *IS* settled. The worst thing a debtor can do is to "settle" to pay a portion of that debt. This will start the clock over from day one and exposes the debtor to responsibility for the remainder of the debt, especially if the debt gets resold.
In short: if it's past the statute of limitations, the collector cannot legally do a thing about it. - hopeitcoldinnewyorkitsgettinhotinhere| 1 replythis guy calls my momma, says he need to speak to 'me' i make 3 anonymous calls to this 866-350-0460 #. - JH| 1 replyI received an unprofessional voice mail from a Mr. Reese Ruben and Yates. That is not my issue here. Frankly I could care less what they think of me.
They called the children of my father’s wife and left messages with them stating that I was going to be indicted and a bench warrant would be put out on me.
My father is 78 and in poor health. These messages upset him a great deal. They have no legal right to do this.- Caller: Ruben & Yates

- Anonym replies to st| 1 reply"Its no different than any of the other 50 plus credit repair specialist companies around western new york." quote by st.
Yeah right! Credit repair specialist? No this is a bottom feeding debt collection agency as are many in Buffalo NY. If these scum had any notion of fair play they would send written proof of the debt upon request. But they wont because they dont have the proof. They dont want you to know your rights about statutes of limitations and bankruptcy. Paying them will NOT fix your credit. In fact it will make the late payment remain longer. Use the laws to your advantage just as these scumbags try to use the law to their advantage. See budhibbs.com to see all the scams that come out of Buffalo NY and send the letters he recommends. These worthless scum will almost never have the proof needed to win a court case against you so let them file a lawsuit. Then countersue them for violations of the FDCPA and FCRA, harassment and the TCPA. Then see who owes who money!!!! All they have is a bluff. Call it and you will win! - college student| 7 repliesI am a college student majoring in economics and am doing a research paper on debt in the US. I am very displeased that I have found so many people that try to beat the system in order not to pay thier bills. In my studies the amount of money used as a tax write off for unpaid debt for banks is above the amount of money supplied through welfare. Our economy is currently in a recession do to the fact that many people have big eyes but small pockets then try to use excuses, why they shouldnt have to pay money they owe. In my eyes this is equivalent to theft. I just hope people will start to realize that the american dream should not be achieved by credit cards and loans but hard work and dedication. If this is not realized our economy will never get out of a recession.
