Wouldn't identify themselves except that their from "The Law Office" in New York.  Wouldn't even tell me if it's in NYC.  They were taping the conversation, which is illegal without notification in my state.  They didn't mention that fact until I asked.  Said they were collecting a debt for $300 (are you [***] me?) from a Spiegal account in 2000.  I've never had a Spiegal account in my life.

A woman with a very heavy accent (Indian/Pakistani?) called for my daughter, who was busy bathing the new baby.  I had a very difficult time understanding her and had to keep asking her to repeat what she said.  She left the phone # 866-355-9587 and a reference # and said my daughter needed to call back about her account.  When I asked what company she was with all she would say was "law office."  My daughter says she has no idea who this was and does not have an account with anyone that an unknown law office would be calling about.

A woman with a very strange accent just called my mother saying she owed a bill for something like 300, that I know for a fact she does not owe.  My mother said she did not owe, and the lady said she was going to tell about it.

That lady even said the last 4 numbers of a Social Security number that was not even my mother's number.

These [***] keep calling asking for someone who had this number years ago.  This has gone on for a year and I keep telling them.  The phone company should monitor this crap because the last call a 1:00 am was the last straw and I'm giving up my land line and going to stricktly my cell phone and let the next poor [***] they give this number to deal with it.

They called on 11-29-2007 for my son in the Navy.  They identified themselves as The Law Offices from New York and are trying to collect a debt.  They wanted my son's adderee and phone number.  I said I would pass the information to him but that he was ot to sea. She even knew his first name.

DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.  See "granny of 3" above dated 8/24/07 and check out the budhibbs address list there.  These people are lowlifes and scammers.  They threaten and harass but don't have the power or intelligence to do anything else.  Block them, ignore them, laugh at them, but NEVER even hint that you will deal with them or take them seriously.  It only encourages them.

I called back and the greeting said "Law offices of Mithell and Kay" and then I got a woman with a heavy indian (over seas) accent and told her that they have the wrong number and the need to delete it immediately. She asked me for the number and then asked for my address. I told her that my address doesn't matter and there is no one by the name they are looking for at this phone number. She asked for the phone number again and I told her "where to go" and hung up.

This call states if you are not the person who they name to hang up. Otherwise by listening you aknwoledge you are the following person. It is the law offices of Mitchell and Kay attempting to collect a debt and tellling you to call the same # and reference the following #. I called the cell phone company and had them call and let them know wrong # and stop calling. The rep from the cell company took care of it in less than 5 min.

I don't owe a dime to anybody but a mortgage company.
I found this online... lets call these scumbags until there phones break and see how they like to be harrassed by phone.  I called after hours and got a message listing the same office hours as are given in their collection calls

a guy with an Indian accent called me a few hours ago looking for my husband asking me to call this no.(1-866-355-9587) back, he gave me an account no. saying it belongs to my husband from the law office of mitchell and kay. I asked him where he got our number and what the heck was he talking about. The guy even insisted I give my husband's work no. who was he kidding?!!! It really is a crazy world out there, let's watch our backs on these scammers.

Same details as "Jake - 30 Nov 2007" I'm on the west coast so I wasn';t home when they called and I keep missing their business hours. I'm going to report this to the Federal Trade Comission as a possible scam and as an unsolicited phone call (via the do not call registry @ https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx )

I got a call from some guy at work.  He would not tell me where he was calling from or what it was about, just that it was a "personal business matter".  I finally just put him into my voice mail, and Googled the number before calling back.

I keep getting the same messege from the Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay. They always ask me by my maiden name. I have been married for four years and I don't have my maiden name listed any where except my birth certificate. They insist on me paying some debt. My husband had even told them repeatedly that they are not getting a dime until they can send us proof of the debt and how much we ow by mail. They then state that they just sent the proof today and ask for the address inwhich we do not give them. They even called me at 7:00am where in my state it is illegal for any company to call before 9am and after 9pm. They have also called me from two different phone numbers.

who the H&^% are these people? Does anyone have any idea who to call about reporting this scam?

we have received the exxact same thing as described by everyone else. Same thing to a T. probably the same amount owed. this needs to be stopped.

They called as above and I googled the number 1-866-355-9587 and got here.  I found the info for the Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay and went to their web site: http://mitchellnkaylaw.com/  I used their email form to send them a notification that I didn't want them to call anymore.  I included a copy  of the Ohio Revised Code on "Telephone Harassment".  I am making a log of the call and any other calls that they make.  If they continue I will go to the local prosecutor and file criminal charges against them. If I win the criminal case the civil case will follow.  Lawyers don't mind getting into someone else's pocket for free money but they don't want you in theirs.

Got a call from this 866-355-9587 and was asked my name and S.S. number.  I told him that I do not give that kind of info over the phone and also to someone that I don't know.   He said (very hard to understand) that his name was Gary.   I asked him what this was about and he could not tell me until I told him my name & S.S. nr.   I told him that I would not give him this info until he told me and so goodby.
  Lets see what happens next.

It's good to remember that anyone can CLAIM to be representing a legitimate business, while in fact simply be a phishing scammer. Dollars to donuts, the actual law offices of Mitchell N. Kay have nothing whatsoever to do with this. It's very easy to collect someone's real name and business info, then use it to scam. Bottom line is if you never heard of them before and they ask for ANY personal info, it's fraud...and frequently not even connected to the name they are assuming. A different sort of identity theft. Ask them to mail you the information, if there is any chance you might actually be getting contacted by a collection agency. Otherwise, say you are not interested, you are on the Do Not Call List, and you wish never to be contacted again by their company, then hang up.
