I have Majci Jack and I keep seeing it making calls to a 866-366-8634 number and I dont know why. I called the number and it a modem some where, you can hear it trying to train down in speed.

Call DISH network--dailup to order movies?

I use ITP VOIP.  My phone was dialing 866-366-8634 up to 14 times a day.  Got to a good tech at Dish Network.  He figured out that my one receiver that has to call in daily, was having trouble making a connection on VOIP.  We entered a call prefix of *99 in Phone System Setup (menu 6-1-4) and this seemed to solve the problem.  We will see.  Will advise when I know for sure.

This number appears 10 t0 15 times a day how do I stop it?????

My Magicjack is doing the same thing. Yesterday it called that number almost every 2 minutes up until 3:30 in the morning. What's bugging me the most is that every time it dials the screen keeps popping up. It's very annoying when I'm trying to work on my computer because it keeps interrupting me!
Does anyone know how to fix it? And how is it dialing on its own?

unplug your Magicjack and then re-plug magicjack

Just an addendum The star 99 is added to your dish network menu not your magic jack menu

i also have this problem and i don't have dishnetwork dial-up oviously it's a magic jack thing

We have tried to un-plug it and plug it back in, but it ends up doing it again like 5 mins later and we can't stop it. What can be done about it?

We recently converted our home phone to Verizon thru their Home Phone Connect service.  Shortly after  the 866-366-8634 number appeared on my minutes to the home phone # several times day and night.  I thought it was being called to our house, but Verizon said it was an out going call.  The only thing plugged in was our Dish Network receiver.  I have unplugged that and will check our phone bill in 24 hours to see if the phone number has stopped appearing.  The only other thing it could be would be the Home Phone Connect box.  Verizon called this number and they got a fax machine sound on the receiving end.

I also recently converted to Verizon  Home Phone Connect service.  shortly after that the 866-366-8634 #appears on my minutes too.
Did unplugging from dish work for you?
I have called Verizon twice and they don't seem to know anything about it.

Okay, I see I see that I am not the only one that has been inundated with calls from this mysteriously, annoying 866-366-8684 number.

So, I'm posting my comments as well.  But, now what?

IT IS your Dish Network box calling home. You can alternatively connect the network jack to your internet router instead. It needs to talk to the Dish system to make sure you have received any guide updates or other programming changes needed by you Dish box.  Cable TV does the same thing but back over the same cable line.  With satellit you don't have that return path so it uses existing phone line or internet to do it.

2014Aug25: Calls to this number (866-366-8634) are apparently initiated by my DVR
(on it's own; automated) from my home phone line at 3:47pm CST; as part
of my DishNetwork service.
The call showed up on my phone-monitoring computer screen as I was watching the screen
--it lasted only about 15 seconds, so I was unable to try to monitor
the actual details of the call (not even sure how to listen-in on the call,
if that's possible).  Several people have reported this number to be related to
automatic calls initiated by DishNetwork service (which I have); which
I think explains the call, because my phone line is always connected to
my DVR (from DishNetwork).
Afterwards, I called that number and it only beeps; so it must be
my DVR calling some electronic answering system.
It might be DishNetwork (using their automated system) confirming that my phone line is working--because their service does offer a monthly discount for keeping your phone connected to their DVR.
