They claimed to be calling from Citi-Card to help me with my Sears card.  However, I haven't used my Sears card in years and the current balance is $0.  They claimed it was about an urgent matter that must be resolved in less than one month.  They said to call (866)369-5768.  They said it's not a sales call, but didn't give any specifics about the call.  They have call several times.

I got the same call claiming to be from the Litigation Department from CitiCard about my Sears account.  Trying to verify information and get me to pay the outstanding balance on my account immediately.  I have no balance.  They said they've got records of some returned mail, meaning the bills have been coming back to them, asked about verifying my information, had me listed as living in CA, I live on the east coast.  I refused to give any more info. I asked for a numebr to call them back, they gave me this one.  I called customer service for my Sears CitiCard, they comfirmed there is NO balance on my account, and not to bother calling back.  This must be a scam.  People, please beware!!! I received another message, from this same company.  When I called back, I simply asked what company I was calling, when answered she said CitiCard Services, when asked to repeat the name, she said Sears.  I plan to report whoever this is making these calls.

Yes, it is real, it's the Litigation Department from CitiCard accounts created in Sear. My own case, they are willing to negotiate the debt for a lot less and write off the balance. Any comments on negative effects of settling a debt?

Anytime you settle a debt for less than the balance, the amount forgiven has to be reported to the IRS as income on your taxes. Alot of companies due not tell you this when they offer you a settlement. You will receive a 1099 for the amount.

They are definitely from Sears Citi Gold Mastercard pre-lit. They operate like many scam sham collection companies with inept phone agents act but they are legitimately Sears Citicard pre-lit. They are worse than a re-ocurring nightmare that always leaves you anxious and unable to stop it from coming back.  I

    What Does One Believe

With so many scams and ripoffs nowadays, especially concerning debt settlement, and legitimate companies selling off their accounts receivables to illegitimate collection agencies that often work outside the law, with outdated and/or inaccurate information, what does one believe? I received two (2) calls from this number for the first time today. NO message was left either time. When I called back the number, the greeting I got was "welcome to citicard" and then the call terminated (the next thing I heard was a dial tone).

I received a call from this number earlier today. No message was left. I would think that if someone called me to discuss a legitimate business matter, they would at least leave a message and a callback number. I borrowed a prepaid cell phone which was paid for in cash, and when time was added to this cell phone, the cards were paid for in cash. I called the number back (8663695768). I was greeted with a human-sounding (not sure if it was actually a human being (I don't think it was)) voice. The voice said "hello and thank you for calling citicard. if you have the extension of an agent you wish to speak to, please enter that extension now, otherwise, please wait for the next available agent". Previous postings claim this number is the citibank pre-litigation department for the sears gold mastercard, which citibank apparently owns. If this is the case, I would think that they would identify themselves as a citibank pre-lit department for the sears gold mastercard, and leave a more detailed message.

    I called Sears
They said it was a legitimate Citibank card number.  Sears even transferred the call so I could talk to the rep.  What happened is that somehow my phone number got listed under the account of someone else (maybe someone who had this phone number before me) and they owed a balance.  It was nothing to do with my card, they just were calling the wrong person to try and collect.  So if you get a call from this number, it is real.

My phone rings all hours of the day and night,  at least 12x a day.   If it is Sears,  why doesn't Sears name just appear on the front of the caller ID??    Very annoying to say the least.  I have lost my job and have been paying as much as I can on my Sears card,  but  they don't seem to want a little payment.  If I could pay more I would.  Why can't these people be satisfied with someone in a bad way,  trying to pay when they can,  as compared to not paying anything at all??   I am very disgusted as this whole situation is totally out of my hands, and no one really seems to care.

They called 3 -4 times a day sometimes esrly in the morning. I don't have a sears card I closed it and cut a card a long time ago. They said before there was a  fraud going on in my account but they didn't do anything. I talked to someone about this they told me it is against the law calling you 3-4 a day everyday. I answered once but they don't take NO answer.

I know this number to be a scam call, as they have tried to call me on the secondary line I have for a fax machine. If it had been a ligit call, they would have used my home number. Besides Sears does not have my fax number. Only the home main number.

I do not have now, nor have I ever had a Citibank card or a Sears card. I do not know how these idiots got my number, but I am sick of all these calls. If I don't recognize the number, I do not answer it. They can go screw themselves!!!!!!

It might be Citi Bank or it might be a scammer, only calling an official published number can help others find out if a call is legitimate for them. You can't reassure others their caller will be Citi Bank, since scammers spoof legitimate names/numbers to try getting personal information they will use to steal your money with.

Never trust a caller to be who they claim, always call from an official number to verify if they did call.

I was a week late on my Sears bill. I completely forgot to pay it. I have excellent payment history with them, and the way I was spoken to was disrespectful. The gentleman spoke so fast, I couldn’t even understand. I thought it was spam. I called Sears myself and made the payment.
