So I asked and who the hell are you.
Believe it or not -  h e  really got offended. How do I speak? I said well since you apparently never heard of tel etiquette to introduce yourself, how can you really criticize?
He said this was really serious business.
I said OK, if so then who the hell are you?
And then he hung up.

They are very sneaky. They are calling my # and I am not the party they are trying to reach, I sent a cert. letter a couple of months ago stating do not call and the calls stopped until 2 days ago.beth

Since I KNOW I'm not late on any payments and have no old outstanding debt, I just added their number to my "blocked numbers" program.  Problem solved.

I just answered "Police department" when a "human" finally came on the line.  They hung up.  I just keep answering it that way until they quit calling.

I dont owe any money and they call looking for friends and family that owe cash. I have a consumer lawyer and I already have 17 lawsuits against collection agencies for harsasing me. I have won so far 5 cases for nice settlements. Now that stops them from calling permanently.

For the year and a half I keep getting that number and I have told them that that person has been deported back to Mexico about a year before we purchased it from HUD. I have since moved myself and the number to the other locations and still calling me if I knew this guy.  They never done any  researching for updated information beside  the address matching.
They hide behind collection agency loophole on the do not call registrations, but they are very careless on the pickings.

This number called my house saying that they were from a pharmaceutical company and wanted to update my resume. The man lied to my mother for about a half hour. Really nasty.  Thanks to this blog, I know what they are all about.

Constantly calling every day of the week and leaving no messages....

this guy calls- acting all official on the phone.he is a collections company. very pushy. her asked for a person- i said i don't have anyone living here with that name. and to stop calling that number. its a collections agency of some sort. comes up in caller id as 866-380-8777 with no name of teh business. quite sneaky. the key is to just tell name there is no one by that name!

What is your blocked number program? I didn't know there was such a thing -- or are you talking cell phone?

Someone calls me from this number at least twice a day, sometimes as much as six times, between 10am and 7pm.  They never leave a message, and when I do talk to someone they ask for a person I've never heard of and either hang up on me or immediately get condescending, implying that I'm harboring someone that doesn't pay their bills.  Since this company is too stupid or lacks resources to cycle what outbound number they're sending on caller ID, I now automatically forward their calls to a non-existent number.  Yet I continue to see their number come up in call logs, which baffles me.

I had to file bankruptcy a few years back because my divorce got messy. This collection agency called on a debt that was discharged through Chapter 7 bankruptcy (the loan reflects that one my credit report) and claim it is due in full now. They are polite and nice and use scare tactics in a nice way to try and get you to agree to a repayment plan. Having to file bankruptcy was the hardest thing I ever had to do and will never put myself in that position again; but being called on a loan discharged through bankruptcy and being offered "buyout" options of 65 to 55% of the loan due is ridiculous. They provided me with a fake phone number to my lawyer who told me I do owe the debt. So I called my lawyer's main number and asked for help (not their local branch number given to me through this company). The lawyer I got looked up my account and told me I have nothing to worry about because this loan was discharged through bankruptcy and is not collectible - he said I could choose to pay the original loan holder if I felt the need but that according to the law the debt is not collectible. So the next time they call me I will tell them that and to never call me again. I can't believe they gave me a fake phone number for my attorney who told me the debt was due. The lady on the phone informed me they do not report to credit bureaus nor do they  freeze bank accounts and seize assets (because they CAN'T).

All I got from this number was a five minute voicemail, telling me that all their operators were busy.  They called me, not the other way around, so to me that's just ridiculous.  I don't care what or whom they are calling for, if you can't leave a message don't bother calling.

It is Northland Group.  They have my car loan.  The rep I spoke to was very polite and friendly.  Time to get my finances in order

This is a caller that is obviously using deceitful tactics to get your info.
