- jeremy| 3 repliesNo worries guys. It's just Clear internet customer service calling to welcome you to the fold
- Dean replies to jeremy| 2 repliesYes, I just signed up. It would be nice if they left a voice message...that way, no mystery!
- JV replies to Dean| 1 replyThis makes sense - I just signed up for Clear wireless service and got a couple calls during work from this number. It sure would be nice if they left a message!!
- GD replies to JVGot one call, no message. 4 hours later 2nd call with message welcoming me to the Clear network.
- clear1st missed call. lets see if they call again.
- Why WiMax ???| 4 repliesWho the hell does Clearwire think they are? Does anyone want to be spammed by some idiotic robo-dialer ? Do we really need a recording telling us all the wonders of their lame product? A product that isn't working well anywhere except the demonstration booth at the local mall?
Maybe they could make robo-calls telling us why the coverage map is so disconnected from reality ? Why they don't have mac drivers ? Why they have to add Sprint EVDO to the system because their coverage is almost non-existent, but they are going to charge us more money each month, just to get something that works, although at much lower speeds than they claimed for WiMax.
And when you call them, and tell them you don't want anymore cr*p calls, do they have a way to comply with your request? Apparently not. Even the slugs at AT&T have a mechanism for that ! Congratulations Clearwire, you managed to screw up worse than AT&T on something.
Take my advice folks - WiMax is not ready for prime time. Constant drops, poor coverage, spotty performance - and good luck with the USB modem indoors.
Clear is clearly not the answer anytime soon. I was going to cut them some slack to see if things got better, but after this call, and their telling me that they had no way to stop tele-spamming me in the future (I think that is a violation of Federal Law, btw), anyway, after all this, I think I'll just go ahead and cancel my Clearwire account.
Thanks goodness I still have my Verizon EVDO modem, which has worked beautifully everywhere I have ever gone with it these past two years.- Caller: Crapwire

- Curious replies to Why WiMax ???| 2 repliesWhere are you located? I've heard they have had some really good success in some markets though.
Thanks - Sim replies to Curious| 1 replyI am in the trial period for Clear at home and mobile. Terrible at my home except for the opposite side of the house in an upstairs window from where I would like it. No drivers for Linux (and I guess Mac) for the USB mobile modem. So far I am pretty sure I will cancel.
Reception is excellent at my office near Ga Tech. Over 4 Mbps rates there.
Noticed this thread because I got a call from 866-386-4361 with no message. - Hamilton replies to SimJust got Clear at my house - 1 week in and reception is fine. The speed thumps Earthlink - hopefully it proves more reliable than EL as well. Would be difficult to be less reliable, actually.
- Clear User replies to Why WiMax ???I'm having excellent results with Clear on the north side of Atlanta. Great speed and easy setup.
I could do without these calls though. - iritatedI signed up for Clear wireless modem service a few days ago. They call and call, yet leave no message. Maybe my Telezapper knocks them off before they can leave a message. I wonder why they just can't send me an email to my new email box? Can't they tell that I'm using the damn thing as they call?

- AndiI'm in the trial period too and it has taken me over a week to get it set up. Apparently they had a driver update in beginning of August (I purchased at end of August)and when sold me the WIMAX & Software they didn't include the update. So none the less I had to use the internet elsewhere to download the new drivers on a disk, crazy! (The sales person/place didn't tell me there was a possiblity the WIMAX wouldn't work on the Windows VISTA 64 version and in fine print on the WIMAX software once got home & three days later couldn't get it to load still. The software booklet on the WIMAX showed worked with VISTA 32 version so started to take back then. Once found the August driver update (one for vista & one for mac) I loaded the new drivers then finally got the software to load or atleast looked like it loaded but it still would not connect. I was getting ready to take it back this week. Then last night had bright idea to put on my old laptop Windows XP the connect manager wouldn't work so then did driver update (oh and thanks to my neighbor who was using unsecured network (of course my laptop has the wireless set up already)so able to obtain the driver update. Once the driver update was loaded then finally the Connect Manager worked enought to give me wireless wifi (which already could get that but didn't want to use my neighbors unsecure connection) but still wouldn't use the USB Connection (flashdrive looking thing). I'm trying to decide if will take it back not sure if still can after 1 1/2 weeks.
So none the less having missed thoughts especially after reading this but I guess because finally got it to sign on with the wifi and went ahead set up email. I recieved 2 phone calls back to back. Then I used the WIMAX away from my house today and the 4G-WIMAX part actually worked (instead of trying to use wifi connection and find an open network). Once connected it worked fine showed a lot of signal but was still slow loading pages (then again could be my older computer but it didn't want to work on my new one) Then received four more phone calls from this number no messages at all.
Now I'm going to go home and sit, walk, stand all around my house to see if I can get it to work correctly, thanks to all of you that posted now I know what I need to do. If don't get any better results then I probably will try returning and getting out of the contract this is crazy. Since had AT&T a few years ago and it was only $10.00 more then what this will be once promotion ends and atleast AT&T loaded easy, didn't have separate software and worked everywhere even in the country. I was trying to have an option and use different company so wasn't having to use the "monopoly company" but don't know that they are ready and if it will be worth it in the long run.
Good luck to us all!! :-)- Caller: Clear
