does anyone recognize the number?

Says they're from frontier financial

Collection agency  , They say they are from the county , and they are now , they say its a legal matter and thats it , wont say anything else if the person they are trying to reach dont answer.

I got a call like this at work. A "Danny Ranny" called me once before and said it was a legal matter from a case that was filed from my county court. This is BS. I believe it is from the same collection company that lists itself as Mid-Continent Collection Agency their number is ( 866-560-2221. I am sure there is a link between this number - (866-443-6985)and 866-560-2221. Since I threatened "Marla" the collector that called on the 866-560-2221 with countersuit, now this collection agency " Frontier Financial" is calling me without any reference number only a so-called case number that they have invented as an attempt for me to call them. ALL... If anyone ever threatens you to do anything it has to come in writing first. They can't just call you and tell you they are going to garnish you or come for you. That's why "Marla" didn't get anywhere with me. I kept asking Maral that she needs to confirm who she is working for and give me the address. She just kept on about a debt that I do not own. I told her to give me her address and every time I asked her for it she would say "pay your debt." I told her if I owe anyone any money then I need to know there address to mail payment. Right? I told her since she will not give me her addrees neither will I give her my CC information or Social Security number. She hung up. Luckily, we keep recordings and we email each other every time somethint like this happens. "MARLA" has not called back since I told her this and now it is Danny Randy, (if that is his name) calling me every other week thinking I am some stupid person. They know that if I obtain their address information, I can tell them in writing with return receipt to cease and desist. They have to stop after that. They were supposed to quit once I told them no by phone for violating the FDCPA. Marla said they will continue to call. I said go right ahead you are making things worse for your company every time you call us here. I have email documentation and recordings of the dumb things she has been saying. She even pretented to be one of our customers. Hope this helps guys. Just keep saving away any threats and BS they say to you. Keep a record and counter sue them for their bad collection practices. Call comes up restricted and a Dan left a message stating that I was referred to his office due to pending litigation due to a possible traffice accident that I may have caused. Company uses decietful tactics to get call backs. When I called back and spoke to the collector - he answers as "Legal Departement" - takes my info then says "Ok hang on while I get your file from the attorney" - comes back online - says that I have a bill for x amount of money - plus $3000 for their retainer fee and ask if I would like to avoid litigation and pay the bill today! I advised Dan that this bill was settled a long time ago with the original creditor - to which he replies that he has no record of it and that if I dont pay in full today, he is going to garnish my wages. I advised Dan that in order to do so, he would first need to file the lawsuit - then serve me with the correct paperwork and then wait for a court date. Once the court date came - I would provide my receipts and the judge would throw the suit out and no judgement would be entered thus he would not be able to file for a writ of execution to attach any of my wages - at this point Dan hung up... They are just another collection agency who buys old debt - then they try to use whatever tactics they can get away with to recover any monies.

I also got aggressive and demanded their address at which time they said they would remove us from their mailing list. Huh?!

Yes, it is the same collection agency that calls itself Mid Continent. FFG is Mid Continent. Keep accurate records. A "Melissa" called my husband's work line today. She threatend by telling him that I have 48 hours to call them back at 866-443-6985. My husband works from home and that called his work line. My only guess is that they called my job and someone there gave them my husband's telephone number. They don't identify themselves and will not give their address information. Don't deal with them unless they give you their contact address information. Don't settle with only their telephone number or threats. If they threaten you tell them to send it to you in writing or cease and desist all collection efforts. They will tell you they will continue to call you. Make sure you call them to request their address information. They need to tell you who they are and how to write to them. Otherwise, don't say a word to them. Keep records of contacts just like I am keeping them for counter suit. Good luck!

Hey guys it is me Anna again I posted under the name (Loli)my nickname. Make sure to keep a thread like I am doing over this fraudulent Mid Continent/FFG agency. This is a good place to keep records of their unwanted calls. I will keep you guys posted for any other information that I find is useful. I will continue to place a note here every time they try to harrass me at work again or attempt to call on an unlisted line like they did today. I am also keeping email threats and attempted transfers from other representtives at my job. My co-workers are helping me crack this case. Keep you posted Anna

I was Just sued by this company???? How can they do this if there just a collection agency?? I went to court in cass county and they hit me with a judgment for $3000.00 and i only owed them $500.00...The judge told me if it is a valid debt any creditor can file a judgment...i don't understand if someone can explain this i would appriciate it.

The caller is a Robert

A Robert said he was calling about a check that had been written to FFG & Associates ad he needed to verify some information for security purposes.
Called our local sheriff's department and asked them about it.  They said it was most likely a scam and to not return the call.

No check has ever been written to FFG & Associates!

They said to call 1-866-443-6985, but the number on the caller ID was 702-445-7777 and the name was Vegalo

The caller left a message which sounds very fishy to me. The caller does not mention the name of the person he is trying to reach to confirm he called the correct number. He is supposedly "Mr. Burk from FFG and Associates". Supposedly a "check was returned" to the caller's office and for "verification purposes" and "security purposes", the caller asked me to call him back. I won't.
My phone was off when he called and therefore I do not know if he called from the number he asked me to call back (i.e. 1-866-443-6985) but this past week I kept receiving calls from 702-445-7777 and I suspect it is related.

A man named Robert left a message on the answering machine that said he was calling about a check that had been written to FFG & Associates and he needed to verify some information for security purposes. Then proceeded to leave the 866-443-6985 phone number. I am not going to return the call.

My uncle in washington got a call from this number for me! I live in oregon! they Said they had a check for me!

I got the same call today from the 706-445-7777 number.  The recorded message was from "Robert" saying it was in reference to a check I wrote & he gave the 866-443-6985 number to call back.  I've contacted authorities & am not planning to return the call.  I believe it's a scam to get my personal information.

I got the same exact call just now.  Caller ID said Vegalo so I did not answer.  A Robert left me a voicemail saying he needed me to return his call at 1 866 443 6985 FFG and Associates for a check I had supposedly written.  I will not return the call.  I agree that it is a scam.

I got the following msg from a "Robert" at "FFG & Associates".
caller ID came up as:
Vegalo 702-445-7777

"hi this is Robert from FFG & Associates, contacting you regarding a check that you wrote, please contact my office I need to verify some information for security purposes. um you can call me at 1-866-443-6985, again it's Robert you can call me at 1-866-443-6985."

I don't plan on calling them back and am tempted to contact the authorities, but the comment from Bill saying he really got sued kind of worries me.
does anyone know anything else about that?
is this a real company, or is it truly a scam?
I'm leaning much more towards a scam because the caller ID is suspicious and does not say FFG on it, or the other company mentioned for that matter either.

Got the same call:  "This is Robert from FFG and Associates calling you about a check you wrote, we need to verify some security information".  They are calling regularly and either coming across using the "private number" or the same 702-445-7777 number. I think they are fishing wiht the 702 number and if you answer it, there is silence, so they know someone will pick up the line, then of course they put "Robert" on the phone to harass you furuther.  I finally called back (after numerous attempts to donotcall.gov) from a blocked line and had a frantic person answer (probably marla?) and they tried to collect info - they said their computer was down, but now it is just back up and wanted info from me. I just hung up.  One more time to donotcall.gov.

I had a message from Robert yesterday regarding a check I wrote. I called today and first it just rang & rang,  I tried again and the voice of Robert answered.  I asked if this was FFG & Assoc. & he asked who I was calling for?  I said FFG & Assoc.,  he hung up on me.  I called again and he answered,  I asked what was this company about and he hung up on me.  I called again,  he answered again and I told him if he doesn't want to be bothered with [***] calls,  don't call me because I will report it now.   I decided to look online for this company and to my surprise I see all these comments.

Not a scam for me. Hi all - For me they have the right person. I wrote a check for a loan to a place called Quick Cash. They offered me a settlement for almost 3 hundred less than I owed. So it was fine with me. They also emailed me right away with their information. This loan was from almost 6 years ago, so think hard before not calling them back.
