Said that my wife was late on her Citi card and they were calling to collect. Whoever this was doesn't know that my wife didn't put my number on her citi card app.

This number and an 859 # (KY)? that everyone else seems to receive as well...get them alot.
Someone left a message this time...some little valley girl loser voice...Love to turn the tables and have thousands of people flood their number with calls...looking for Romulus ??, couldn't understand the last name she used..absurd...sounds like a pit bull or a Charlton Heston movie (may he RIP). :)

Have called me multiple times a day.  When I first picked up, it was silent, then I heard the fax tone.  They called again, and I picked up, and once again, it was a fax tone.  This has been going on for a week.  They finally left a message saying, "we couldn't reach you regarding your account" which is ridiculous because everytime I picked up, I would hear a fax tone.  I called back and they asked for my account number. I have an account with citibank, but I am going to call them myself.

It' legitimate - Citibank.  I gave them a payment with a debit card, then contacted them at a different phone number (the one on the back of my card) a few minutes later.  The payment had definitely been made!

Called regarding my CitiCard account. Sounds like a scam!

This is a legit call from www.citicards.com  They were calling to alert me of possible fraud activity on my card.  When in doubt - call the customer service number on the back of your credit card or check your account online.  Always be certain you know who you are talking with before providing any personal info!

yes, sounded like a scam to me too but it was legit.  Citibank might have noticed suspicious activity on your card and it is wise to speak with them.   Call the number on the back of your card when in doubt.

Call came in and it is a scam. Said that citi was calling they were using an old acct #.  They were trying to get money out of us.

My employer got a call from them, asking about someone who worked here 9 years ago -- also about me they had pretty good information about my account -- they claimed they were from Citibank -- seemed like a scam.
If you get this call please contact your card issuer -- mine didn't know about any call from them.

Just got a call from a well-spoken woman for my wife in regards to a citibank card. Asked when she would be available and left this number as a call back. Would not give me any more details about the reason for the call due to "laws in your state". I called my wife, she checked our account actvity online, and confirmed (by calling number on back of our card) that there were no outstanding issues, either wrt fraud or payments.

Appears to be a very smooth scam.

Got call, inquiring about me being late 5 days on my payment (I have never been late before and she stated that was why she was calling) I questioned her about account activity, it was all correct. I then called citi (at number on their website)to verify the call as legitimate and it was. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN give out any information on the phone unless you are sure who you are talking to. If in doubt - DON'T! - I don't know if someone else is using this number but if it is citi, they will be able to tell you detailed transactions: charges, dates and payments made on your account. I don't receive my statement by mail, so I knew that no one could have gotten the information that way.

Got the call and it seemed very fishy that a credit card company would want to get hold of your bank info. Anyway I called the man hotline to cidicards and they verified that its legit. I have no beef.

I received a call about a late payment from CitiCards about my account but I didn't give the person on the phone any info since I don't like doing that if someone calls me instead of me calling them. After hanging up with the person I did call CitiCards (at a different number than the 1-866-444-4986 number I had been given to call back) and it turned out the person that called me originally was from CitiCards. The call had sounded shady to me with him asking for payment over the phone but it was a legitimate issue.

I had a call from this number that said my payment was late, and proceeded to collect info for them to process billing. I just called citicards and they have confirmed it was indeed their billing dept.

I just got off the phone with Citibank credit cards and confirmed with them they have no record nor reason to be calling me.  She informed me that the call from 866-444-4986 was not initiated by them.

A message was left on my answering machine to call 8664444986 regarding my credit card.  I instead called the number on the back of my card and spoke to a representative.  She said that my account was in good condition - and that there was no indication that anyone from Citibank had called me.  She told me always to use the number on the back of the card for any inquiries.  She said that she would report the 8664444986 number to the security department.

Any messages on this site that say that 8664444986 is a legitimate Citibank number ARE FRAUDULENT!  They were left by someone from that call center.  DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU!  DO NOT RETURN THE CALL.  Use the number on the back of your card instead.
