the phone rings once then stops

this 866-454-0588 number came up on caller id and they called 7 consecutive times in a matter of one hour. I don't answer 800, 866, 888 or other "toll free" numbers anymore and just let the fax go off on them. Still rather annoying. Don't owe anyone anything so if debt collectors, they have wrong number. If it is from the debt collectors mentioned from above, I guess I will have to start writing that number on bathroom walls here in Houston sports bars and clubs 'for a good time call' so it can plug up their lines as much as they seem to enjoy plugging up my phone.

I got a phone call from this number too. It rang once then stopped. When I called back, they asked me to hold so I can speak to a representative.

Is this a joke?

very strange.....i heard dead air..and some freaky whispering....i hung up right away............weirdos.

Just got a call on an unlisted company issued cell phone. I don't answer ID blocked or toll free calls so I let it slide. No message, probable wrong number.

This is a collection agency that does work for banks and such. Real pain in the butts.

I got a call from this number a couple hours ago and I didn't answer it, they didn't leave a message.  The weird thing is, if it's a collection agency, I don't understand why they called me. I don't have any credit cards, loans, or anything like that. Maybe it's a scam?

We got a call from phone #866-454-0588 a woman named Heather left a message and said to call the company back at this #888-787-0871 and to use a certain reference number. So I called them back to find out what they want and I was told that they are a Collection Agency called Capital Management Services.
I was told that I owed money to a Bank and that I had to pay them. When I said that I would contact the Bank to find out what was going on. I was told by Heather that I was not allowed to call the Bank that I was to deal with there company only. I then hung up and called my bank only to find out that there is nothing wrong with my bank account. I was told by the bank not to talk to this company as the information they gave to me was false. Please be very careful when dealing with this company and check your facts to make sure that what they are telling you in true and not a scam.

I received  a few calls from 866-454-0588 it rings  a few times but nobody leaves a message i did call back that number and there recording comes on
it says" nobody is aviable to take your call right know please stay on the line and a rep. will be with you shortly" who ever is calling from this number is a form of harassment to me.

Capital Management keeps calling asking for someone I have never heard of and they assure me that they will take my number off their list.  Guess what, next day, same thing over and over again.  Calling the 866-4540588 number back gets a variety of rude people that hang up on you, pretend they don't hear you, or tell you to call back with a valid complaint!  Try calling Jim at 1-800-519-2687 ext. 4011.  He said he would run a phone list to find out why they keep calling.  Don't know what to expect but thought I would get the info out to everyone else to bug them as bad as they are bugging us!!!

I got this call yesterday saying they were calling on the behalf of my bank. THEY KNEW THE LAST DIGITS OF MY SSN AND I KNOW THAT MY BANK WOULD NOT GIVE ANYONE THAT KIND OF INFO!!! They also had my previous address and asked if that was correct I told them no and when they asked for an updated address I hung up on them because I knew that my bank already had my new address and I have been hearing about the scams going around asking you for that kind of info. I got home and googled the number and found this site. I am so glad I did not fall for it, but I am going to contact the bank, the police, and the credit bureau because these people apparently have my SSN!!!

Capital Management is what is called a bottom feeder collection agency. One of their tactics is to buy expired debt which means the payment they are asking for is no longer legally required. They try to convince people they still have to pay it.  You can find more information about them via google but the bottom line is do not call them if they leave a message without a name or for someone other than you and do not give them your name.
If you catch them calling, say "You have the wrong number" and hang up. If they keep calling I think there are ways you can file complaints about them.

I don't know that they do anything technically illegal but this is a low end agency that tries to scare people into thinking they need to pay them for something that they may not be bound to pay.

That said, They have been calling my work phone number on and off for months. At first they left no message. Then they started leaving generic "This is not a solicitation but an urgent bussiness matter" messages. Finally they started asking for a specific person(not anyone I ever heard of).  They call at odd times so I have not yet caught them calling me.

I got a call from this number and answered. The woman on the other line says "I killed him" and then she immediately hung up. It is too bad that mentally deranged people have nothing else better to do. Since so many people are complaining, there has to be a way to stop this! Someone please post something if you get any more info.

5 calls in 1 day, 4 of them within 5 minutes.  quick call, no message.  I called them back with blocked caller id (dial *67, here a tone, then dial the number).  heard a recording to wait for a representative.  a guy answered "Capital Management, how can I help you?".  I asked them why they are calling me multiple times.  they hung up without a word.

Continually calling asking for my son who has no credit what so ever - very rude and nasty when you speak with them.  Will not provide any information regarding the call and when I advise he is a minor and I am the parent they will not provide any information
