they are asking me to pay $500 dollars to settle my account on one of my credit cards.

I am getting calls from that number...do you know which credit card?

This is NOT Capital One or any other legitimate company.I called this # (1-866-456-0061) and instead of using the extention # waited on the line for a 'representative',so and so came on the line announcing to be a 'someone & Tuttle' something or other'(most was illegible,even upon asking them to repeat),I hung up.When I checked my 'REDIAL' a number showed up as 18-664-560-0619.I investigated online thru search engines and discovered that this # is in Montserrat! which is in the Caribbean!
 ** IF EVER you have such phone calls claiming to be a company that you are involved with,whether it be a credit card company, or any other company claiming 'you owe them',or whatever the case may be CALL that company from a number that you KNOW belongs to the company to confirm any business. ** Better yet JUST don't answer your phone if you do NOT know the caller,especially if it's an 'UNKNOWN NAME / NUMBER !!

These 'Unknown name/number'(sometime a number is displayed) calls are from scam artists who try to get money out of you.They get information by hacking into your phone company's 'answering service'. It happened to me and my hubby and as soon as I unsubscribed to the 'answering service' thru my phone company, all the 'bogus' calls stopped almost immediately. Someone pretended to be a credit card company that my hubby is overdrawn with and almost scammed him (us) out of big bucks until I started investigating and discovered that our messages had been hacked into.SO...cancel your answering service with your phone company and see if the bogus calls stop...you have nothing to lose and peace of mind to gain!! Also,inform your phone company that you believe your messages have been hacked into. If you don't subscribe to such a service,than you,ve been hacked some other way!!cattz from Nova Scotia,Canada

Capital One

Be careful.  This is a scam.  Do not give your information.

1-866-456-0061 has repeatedly left messages on my machine to call them back.  They claim to be a collection agency calling on behalf of Capital One.  Yes Capital One deals with an agency named Total Credit but this number is not them.

Contact Capital One on the back of you card before anything to verify if you have accounts over due.
Have them transfer you or get the official Total Credit numbers.

I refused to give any info to 1-866-456-0061 because they failed to explain the type of work they do on behalf of Capital One unless you give them any type of personal information.  They will also attempt to give you alternate Capital One numbers to call to verify that they are real.  

Again, I did a reverse search with an official agent of Capital One and their numbers did not show up on their end.

As a warning be careful with how you deal with people claiming to be any form of representative of any credit card company or bank.  If they are legit you would be able to contact them by an extension number or by name and division title, through their national 1-800-example number on the back of your card.

This company managed to some how get my bank info and was crediting the amount of $9.56 to my chequeings account.  I contacted my bank and had it reversed.  My Bank is still unable to track where money was tranfered to.  It was transfered through multiple banks and each bank I contacted had a difficult time tracking the transit number I gave them cause I personally did not bank with them.  

The last transit number came through Royal Bank of Canada who could not find anything except the name Total Credit miscellaneous charge.  Even banks are getting had, because even their manager believed that it was from a collection agency and if it isn't over a certain amount they have no reason into investigating the amount

This number is in use again - I notice last report was posted 13 months ago. Appears to be the same scam reported above. They might think after a year this number and scam would be fresh again. I'm in Canada.

This is a complete scam, The guy who called couldn't even remember what his supposed "name" should be.  Always verify with the issuing bank first before you arange any payment.

I got a voice mail at work to call them Urgent sensitive matter....

I just started getting this URGENT call messages at work.
Who are these crooks...?

These people have been calling EVERYONE in our family looking for my husband. I wish they would leave us alone. In the last 10 minutes they have called 6 times. That's almost once every minute! Crooks and scam artist scum. We still don't know how they got my husband's grandpa's Cell phone number. :S

they call me and say they are total credit recovery. For capital one credit. I owe capital one tried to make a payment and the guy was very rude and said No ! This is what i want for payment if not then your going to collections

I got a call looking for my sister!! I don't know how they got my number?! Said to contact her right away as it was an urgent personal matter. The woman wouldn't give me ANY info. I investigated right away and found it was nothing but a scam.
Never give anyone who calls you over the phone money. Always call back the company they claim to be with the legitimate numbers you have on your statements and pay that route- never to someone who calls you!

I was told that if I did not speak with them today that I would be hearing from someone else tomorrow but it would not be him.

Just got a call from them as well and I called but the message doesnt even say who its from on their service. It is illegal to harrass people at their place of work in Canada. This stuff is getting out of hand cant even find peace at work from all these idiots.

I just had a call from them also however the number came up as "Private".  They left a message saying he was calling from Total Debt Recovery.  He left the 866-456-0061 as the number to call back.
Im glad I looked here first, how in the world do they get your Name and number!

I just got a Text Message from 466-07 saying "Call 1-866-459-0061".
Are you getting so bad to be sending text messages now??

This number keeps calling here, I finally called them back and told them that if they call again, I would have my lawyer call them, and handle it. They said they were from total credit recovery, I don't even have a credit card and refused to give them my name and any information. Wonder what they will try again.
