:::snort:::  Called me today looking for my ex that I divorced almost 20 years ago.  Amazing that they found me since I've re-married and moved 3 times since then.  I don't think he liked it when I laughed and said, "really?"  Then I explained and he apologized and hung up.

Same thing with me.  We have been divorced for 22 years.  They called me looking for his ex niece that has been married twice since then.  It all started after his mother passed away.

Called several times over the past few days.

Definitely not looking for me or anyone in my immediate family.

Let it go to voicemail... of course, they didn't leave a message.

    Nameless-just trying to survive!
This number belongs to Allied Interstate Collections. They have now been assigned to collect, among other debt assignments, for the Department of Education. This is the school loan collection agency that was once handled by Wyndom until they had so many complaints they had to change. Allied reports they are more courteous or humane than other collections agencies. [smiles]They call everyday, a live person makes the call and will call your cell phone if they have it. Your Social Security, Disability anything the government pays you can be garnished by these people up to 15%. After they do that they still call to harass you. Just sayin. . . . what I do when they call on my cell is assign a name to it so I can know who it is when the call comes through.

A word of advice. When you answer the phone and they ask for you by name, ask them who is calling and make them identify themselves. Once they do and it is some nondescript id like Allied Interstate, ask them the nature of the call. They will tell you its personal. That is the notice that they are collectors.

I managed to block their number using my Comcast options. So now they are putting a 1- in front of their number as in, "Out of Area", thus bypassing the block. I don't answer their calls, i don't owe anybody anything that I am not paying.
When will this government start doing something about people like this harassing innocent people even if we are on the no call list. Seems to me nobody gives a sh**. Its time we all started to bug the government with threats of not getting back in power!!!!

Rang tonight, I didn't answer;. I don't owe any student loans. Usually calls like this are looking for info on someone I don't know, or a relative who lives elsewhere and they expect I am going to give them personal information about. I don't answer, they don't leave a message. it's their time.

Calls several times a day, usually early morning. I ran out of shower  just now when I heard phone, call from them and no message. I never had a student loan. Sometimes I have answered these unknown calls and they either ask for someone I don't know or someone who once lived here, long ago. Even if I know where the person now is, I'm not going to tell them. give out personal information to people I don't know. I don't know anything about the number or what they want they don't leave a message. So many of these unknown numbers call and say it's about my credit cards (I don't have any) and 'there's no problem, we just want to tell you how to lower rates". Im on the Do Not Call registry but that doesn't seem to matter I report them, but I guess if it's a toll free number that doesn't count.

I used to get calls from collection agencies looking for my loser ex-wife. I dropped my home phone and now and only use cell phones because of it. We have been divorced for 13 years now. Now they (including Allied Collections) call my mother and harass her about my ex. It doesn't matter how many times you tell them, "I DON'T have any idea where she (my ex) lives" they just keep calling. [***].

Have NO idea who these people are. There is no name on caller i.d., only their number. Since I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize or don't identify themselves, I picked up and immediately hung up, then blocked it.

I don't have any student loans, have never had any student loans, and any old credit card debt I had was discharged in bankruptcy more than 8 years ago.

2 calls received this morning from this number, the first at 7:45 am and the second at 8:01 am. Both times the caller was seeking information on how to contact my elderly mother, which I refused to provide.
