I am from san diego and as many of you know, the wildfires have forced many people to evacuate from their homes. I had two families in my home (that had to evacuate their homes)the first time that this person called and it was very difficult to hear him and understand what he was trying to say (he had a very strong accent)so I asked him to please call back another time. He begun to have an attitude and was very rude... he said things like "this will be reported to the credit agencies and will affect your credit" and "you've owed this for 3 years now" etc. I decided to hang up because he wouldn't listen to me... everytime I would speak he would aggressively talk over me. So I hung up.
They called again on a day that I wasn't home and my sister answered. The man left me a message telling my sister to have me call 866-471-9387 from Bay Area Credit Services.
Today they called again and I was told that I owed $799 for ambulance service in Nov. 2004 and they provided the hospital name and ambulance service company, as well as an account number and personal information that they said was my information. I told him that this was clearly a mistake because I had never had ambulance service and also the date of birth and address that they gave me were not mine. He continued with his aggressive, rude behavior stating that I had already put it off for three years and I had to pay, "so how are you going to pay for this, give me your credit card number!" I said, "no, I will verify this information with the hospital and I will call you back" to which he answered he would be calling me until I paid it off because the only way this could be fixed was for me to pay. I said, you can call me back but I'm not agreeing to pay anything because this is clearly a mistake. Then he repeated himself once again saying he would call back tomorrow so that I could pay. The call ended there.
I looked up the number and found this website. I called the hospital and verified the info and they said that the account existed but it was paid off, they also verified the name and the date of birth, which is different from mine. I called the 866 number back and I could hear people in the back applauding and laughing, as if they were having a great time. The person who answered claimed to be a supervisor and I told him to take me off the call list, and that I would be reporting them for fraud. He calmly stated that he would take my number (which he repeated, probably from their caller ID)off the call list and he kept wanting to get more information from me but I told him that he just needed to know that and I hung up.
