- Caller: unknown
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Maria MarquesWho are these people? They call my cell phone 10 times a day even on the weekends. I'm so tired of them.
- JLHI receive numerous calls from this number every day at all hours but since I don't answer unfamiliar numbers on my cell phone, I don't know who it is. Today I called them to see who answered and a woman with a super-thick Southern accent told me she was with A.C.T. but refused to give me any further info until I gave her my personal info - name, phone number, etc. When I told her I wouldn't give her that because it would likely cause me to receive that many more calls from them, she became angry, told me if I want to know who it is I need to answer my phone, and hung up on me.
- Caller: "A.C.T."
- MDB| 1 replyThis is a debt collections agency. They work with a variety of lenders-- in my case it's a GE Capital credit card (Old Navy). Like any collections agency, they are aggressive and persistent. Talking to them usually ends the calls for another two weeks, though.
- Caller: ACT (collections company)
- Call type: Debt collector
- roseThey keep calling me and all there is, is static even when i pick up the phone. When i called them back the lady said hello this is Miss Rawlings, I asked for the company name and she wouldn't tell me, said i needed to give her my name and number and address so i hung up...
- Spike| 1 replyIt is GE Capital for Old Navy Bill collections.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Jane Smith replies to MDBWouldn't Old Navy just send a bill in the mail if this was in fact a bill collections agency?
- Mr. SmithAdvanced Call Center Technologies?
- Caller: Advanced Call Center Technologies
- TeeWow, I get these calls every half hour beginning at around 8 am and ending around 9 pm. They call my cell first, then my house. They also call from different numbers, even one with my area code. GE Capital Retail Bank is full of **it.
- Caller: ACT for GE Capital Retail Bank
- Call type: Debt collector
- SkyI get calls 7 days a wk but all that I get is static on the phone no msg. I am not calling back that will only create more problems. I don't recognize the number.
- TiredOfBeingHarrassedWe get 5 calls a day from this number. We don't answer but when we have there is no one there. We are so tired if it. That's 150 calls a month. Sometimes it seems they switch to another number and call in the same way. We have had our number over 49 years but are about to disconnect our service for good. We pay a lot to be harassed.
- KKCalled them back.
A very long time on hold with a message every so often to assure you a representative will be with you shortly.
After about 7 minutes of being on hold I finally gave up. Next time they call and we all know they will I will find out which company it is.- Caller: ??
- Jamiethese folks call 7-8 times a day starting around 8:00 am an ending around 10:00 pm when they leave a message its either 2 seconds of silence or 1 1/2 minutes of static I've tried to call back and either stay on hold 10 minutes and give up or someone answers and want give me any info on who they are or who they are calling for unless i give the my info
- Christine| 1 replyThis phone number constantly calls starting at 8:00 a.m. I pick up no one is there, and no one leaves a message. How do I make it stop?
- Caller: no one
- Alfalfa replies to ChristineThe next time they call, try and stay on the line long enough to get the name of their company and mailing address in which to mail a cease communication letter. If they refuse, let them know you will be seeking legal counsel who will get this information for you and file a lawsuit for harassment.
- sickofthecrapCall me several times a day. If I officially owe a debt where is my letter. Seriously. I should file a suit against them and with that money pay off this so called debt. Whether it's mine or someone else's. It'll all work out in the end with a great outcome!
- Caller: act
- Call type: Debt collector

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
