My mother is 93 years old and lives in a gated community that is supposedly secure against solicitation, etc. Last week, I found a business card stuck into her screen door with a graphic of a stepvan and "SORRY WE MISSED YOU! Please call to re-schedule. 10am - 4pm - Mon-Fri 1-866-486-5473 ext. 3839" -- My mother had not called anyone for service of any kind. The card showed no company name, no identification of any kind, just the phone number. So I called it from my office phone, punched in the extension number, and was greeted by voicemail instructing me to "Please state your name so we can announce who is calling." I hung up. Someone appears to be trying to sucker old people into identifying themselves and who knows what happens after they do so???

I'd go to the local police station and make a report.  Show them what you received.  Give out the whole circumstances.  Maybe the same thing is happening to others in the area.   The police could get the word out to others.

I would also suggest contacting her home owner's association since she is in a gated community.  They could warn the other homeowners.

Palm Desert area here. I found a handwritten post-it note on my front door: "SORRY WE MISSED YOU! Please call 1-866-486-5473 ext. 75590". It was signed by "Franz". The front door is INSIDE the courtyard, mind you, after you open and walk through two gates. These scammers have balls.

weird, i just got the same note, but they rang my doorbell twice before leaving at about 8:30 in the morning, the bell woke me up and i know noboxy i know would be here that early, so i waited till they left and picked up the note. gonna call it in a bit and mess with them. this is kind of a senior area in hemet wich isnt that far from palm desert, too bad im not a senior and wont be falling for any kind of scam. (not saying seniors will either, just saying im most likely not the targeted demographic) will post results.

update : left my name and awaiting a call.

I was working in my backyard and heard a loud engine. I went to the front and there was i believe a short hispanic man in a small unmarked tow truck parked out front. I watched him until he left and then noticed a sticky note saying to call dan. I'm in San Jacinto ca.

I have Ring and a stocky Hispanic man rang my bell twice - he was driving a diesel truck, possibly tow truck, couldn't see. He peeked in the glass and then left the card. It was the same card described above, Paul x9573. I called, system wanted me to leave my info. I had no appt scheduled. I left no msg. This was 1:30 pm in Calimesa

Ever get a call? This just happened...I’m scared 😱

I was able to get a picture of plates. He parked on the other side of the street. He left a card as described above. I refuse to leave my information as I did not
