got a call from 866-497-8723.  they left a message that stated "this is your school.....please call is so that we may help you."  Kind of strange that they don't leave a business name or even the name of the school.  When i looked up the # on google a match came up from usafaa and another old student loan company, but you when clicked the link there were date from 2002.  Sounds kind of fishy so i'm not calling them back.

I just got the same call.  I'm assuming it has something to do with student loans because I was late with my payment last month.  They must contract w a lot of schools and so they don't give a school name in their voicemail.  I haven't been a student in years though, so it sounds shady to say "This is your school calling".

I keep getting calls from this number but they do not leave a message!  I answered it the one day and they didn't give a company name or who they were just said something about a loan.  I told them not to call me any more if they couldn't give me proper identity!  They still call!  Blocking the number completely!

Just got a call from this number. Lost service called back and there was a long automated message. Guess if it's important they'll call back, but I looked up the number and it says something about loans from 2002. I was in 9th grade that year so I believe it could be a scam. Unsure but not trusting it!!

I just got the same call and it is regards to helping you with student loans payback. It is a scam don't fall for it. I had my attorney check into it and he said they call people who has student loans and are still in school or making payments. These people say they can and do cut your student loans more than half of what you owe to help you pay them back. They are just out to get your information and your money. Be aware they are scammers!!!!!!!!!

It was like them referring my school name and saying a bunch of thing before they could start to talk about student loans, kinda strange.

These people just called me. I told them I didn't need any "loan counseling" as I've already spoken with me loan servicer and have knowledge of how much my payment will be when it kicks in at the end of June. He laughed and told me I was lying, then proceeded to tell me that "he's heard crazier stories", he then hung up on me when I asked his name. When I called back, the same person answered saying "hello?"... Definitely a scam!!!

Keep getting these calls saying this is your school calling and to call them back.  Doesn't say who the message is for.  I have tried to go to their website to take our number off of their system as this is a clinic and we don't have time to get all these calls to return their calls for I don't even know who they are calling for. I get these messages on my voicemail all the time because I am in and out of the office.  I wished I could block the call.

the # is for United Student Aid Funds. the company is a non profit organization that helps with student loans but does not charge anything for their services. the voicemail also gives a website, repaymyloans.org, to visit for more information about loan repayment options and the company.

I received a call from this number and no voice mail was left with any information given for the purpose of the call.
Thank you so much for the direct, to the point information you provided. It is unnerving with so many scammers and hackers out there, just seeking personal information from individuals for their own personal gain, at the destruction of someone else's character and financial well being. I do have student loans but am still in college for a couple more years.

Sounded like she was in another country, thick accent and soft-tone voice. Said she was calling from Ivy Tech (CC in Indiana). I told her I haven't been there in about a year and do not intend on going back (as I attend a different school). Said "ok" and I hung up.
The only entity that can help you with loan payments is the Fed Loan Servicer, itself, not some third party that is only out to steal your information. They must look up people's credit reports and see outstanding loans.

Got a call from this number on my work phone. It was a lady saying her was calling on behalf of my old college that I had transferred out of years ago. She wanted to remind of when my grace period was up & make sure I could make the first payment on time. I'm at the end of a 6 month break I took from my new college so I could get some stuff straight with my family. I told her if she's not with the company that handles my loans (which she isn't) then that's none of her business & told her to put me on their do-not-call list.
I'm furious. I don't know how they got my information like my work phone number or knew when my grace period is up. I'm going back in August so I'll be in deferment & may have to pay a couple monthly payments but then I won't again until I graduate. I'm contacting my loan company.

Today at 7:31 P.M., I received a call on my cell phone from 866-497-8723.  The caller asked for "Amber" and I told her she must have the wrong number.  She said sorry, I will mark this as an incorrect number, then she hung up.

Don't give out any personal information.  This is probably a scam.  I don't have any student loans, so I definitely find it to be a fishing scam.

866-497-8723 has been calling my cell for the past couple of months and won't give me any information.  I graduated in May and started making payments in June so I know that I'm not behind, I don't even have to start paying until November.  I'm also paying three times the required amount.  When I called my college they knew nothing about this company, and said they certainly hadn't contracted them for anything.  These are the worst kind of scammers.
