I received a call from this number, leaving me a message, stating they were Bank of America, and to call back at another number, 866-231-4406, and when I called back, they wanted my personal bank information to confirm my identity. I refused, and called Bank of America, and they told me they were not aware of this number, and they they would never call a person in this fashion.

I've also recieved this message from this Caller-ID number by phone. Explaining I should call that number because BOA wanted to talk to me in details about my account.

Very Suspicious because I've NEVER known my bank to call me about my account but ALWAYS recieved a mailed letter instead.

Received a phone call with a Recording stating they were Bank of America. I stayed on the line and the person told me they were calling to discuss my account. When I wouldn't they said I could call back at 866-512-7171 California time. I knew this had to be a scam. Bank of America had no information and wouldnt' help me out at all regarding whether this number was legitimate or not.

I received the same automated call and was aked to call 866 231 4406. I called back and they asked me my SSN#, mother's maiden name and address. Unforunately, I trusted them and gave them all the details. They said they were calling because I had cancelled my checkin account with BOA and for some reason they had not completed the process.

Oh God! What can I do now? I feel duped. Please help.

Definitely just got this call. I told her this seemed suspicious and said I could take her name, Emily Frastona, and I could call back anytime. Hmm, this is shady.

I've been screwing with them. Everytime I call, I hear a similar voice with a different name. I even called BOA, and they said "#1 We wont call out for this info, #2 We dont have 866 numbers that I'm aware of"

I knew right away it was fake since I'm not even a BOA customer, what idiots... time to prank them some more!

    Call from 866-512-7171.

Automated voice (woman) claiming to be from Bank of America requested that I call 866-231-4406, message code 863xxx (last digits altered for paranoia's sake).

I'm not planning on calling them back based on what I've read here.

    Call from 866-512-7171.

I suggest calling back and asking "May I have your name, and do you mind if I record this call"
    Then give them bogus information.

Got the call from 1-866-512-7171, just a strange musical tone then a disconnect.  I'll mess with them if they call back...  What we need is a bank of auto-dialers to call them all day long and cost hem money.

Got call from this number and claimed to be BoA with an urgent message for someone who doesn't live in my house.  It left a call back number (866-231-4406) in the voice mail.  I guess it's time from them to enjoy the music from my 2400bps modem!!!

I received the same call as the callers stated above.  I Googled the number when I saw it on my caller ID and it led me to this website.

I got a call from them and since it sounded funny to me too I called BOA. The operator looked up the number and found that it was a BOA number and transferred me to the correct department. It was concerning an account I had accidently opened online and had a negative balance from fees. The guy helped me close it out and took care of the situation. I am glad I called Bank of America to see if it was legit.

I just got the call from 866-512-7171 asking to call Bank of America back at 866-231-4406. I did just that and got through to some guy in the "Retentions" department saying he needed to go over my account information. Prior to calling them back I googled the number and found this website so I was very suspicious and would have been even without checking out google. He claimed that if I were to contact the regular customer service phone number for Bank of America that they would just transfer me to his department anyway.

So, I did that and the Customer service took down the phone numbers and said that they don't have a "retentions deparment". She took down the numbers and apologized and instructed me that Bank of America would never call requesting account verification and account information.

    Hope that helps!

An automated call came into my cell phone, asked for "Cynthia Gibbs" and gave an option to press #3 "if this is not Cynthia Gibbs." I pressed #3, but got another call a week later. I have to share 500 minutes of airtime with my wife.  Can't we make these [***] go away???
