got a call from the same number. said they were from citibank fraud, like the other poster said. it was an automated machine asking for my zip code. i accidently gave it the wrong zip code and then the machine told me to wait so that it could connect me to a cust. rep. After holding for the longest time a machine told me to call back at a later time.

so later i called the number and the lady that picked up told me that it was citibank and i hung up. i then called the number on the BACK OF MY CREDIT CARD and they immediatly asked me if the LAST 3 TRANSACTIONS THAT I MADE WAS REAL because it was suspicious. I did make all the purchases though. So I GUESS THE 866-517-5348 number is real but i didn't ask.

Got a call from that number at 3am - when I called back the next morning, the first thing that they said was "Can I have your card number please?" I didn't give it to them, but said that they were from Citibank, and suggested that I call the number on the back of my card so that I could be sure that I was actually talking to Citibank.

I had this phone number call my house. When I called CitiBank to verify it was calling me I was informed that contrary to others who are posting here, that the number 866-517-5348 IS A CITIBANK NUMBER!
Of course, you don't need to give any info out or even follow up the call if you don't mind your last charge or two being blocked!
I on the other hand unblocked the charge and all is well.

I got a call from this number, they stated my name and then said to press 1 if it was me.  I did so and got a busy signal.  Then I called the number and the guy asked me for my credit card #.  I asked who he was and he said Citicard and I told him I didn't want to give him my number because I thought it was a scam.  The number on the back of my card is 800-950-5114.  Will I be seeing activity on my phone since I pressed 1?  Now I'm VERY worried.  AaAaarrggghhhhhhh.

I also got a call from 1-866-517-5348 today.  The Caller ID said Toll Free Call so I didn't pick it up.  I checked my voice mail and the computer generated voice said I had a message and to call 1-877-215-2648 and then gave me a code number to use. I called that number, pressed 1 because it was my name that they were speaking.  I also had to verify my billing zipcode. It was the Citicard Fraud Line calling to check my last two purchases.  I had just made a sizable charge to my card on the phone and this call came to me about 5 minutes later.  I verified by pressing 1 that the charge was made by me. I also verified the second charge.  Thank goodness for a service like this.  Thank you Citicard and Citibank!!

I had recently made some large purchases with my Citibank credit card.  After reading the information on here, I called the number back.  They asked me for my card number and password, then they read all of the suspicious charges from 4 different merchants.  If they were just impersonators there is no way they could know how much I had charged to which merchants, but they read me amounts for each one.  So the number is the legitimate Citibank number that calls to investigate suspicious card activity.

This is citibank's fraud department. Legit calls, but automated, to verify purchases. There's an algorithm that signals a fraud if you purchase gas, buy online, and eat out all in the same day. You can also buy gas, buy shoes, and then get a fraud alert.

yeah, someone stole my credit card info, somehow. the first day they called to let me know that there was one charge which was rejected because it was over my credit limit. they didn't make it sound like it was very serious, and it was up to me whether to close my account or not. their nonchalant attitude made me decide not to, so the next day i get another call saying they've kept spending stuff, the account is closed. their loss i guess, but they have insurance for this kind of thing.

I got the same call too...wanting to verify a credit card charge.  Sounded like a scam so I hung up on them...especially since I monitor my credit card online.  When someone answers the phone, "Thank you for calling Customer Relations" and doesn't give the business name, that's the first sign something is wrong.

IT IS FROM CITIBANK. PLS ANSWER THE CALL. Its an alert call when your card has a variety of transactions on the same day.
I pumped gas, ate out and purchased online on the same day and they called.

    Awsome service.

I hung up on them too when the machine asked for my zip. But when I called Citi they confirmed that they had called my to check on some charges, which all turned out to be legit.

I got this call at 2pm on a Sunday and did not pick it up because I didn't recognize the number.  When I called it back, the woman immediately asked me for my social security number.  I refused to give it to her, telling her that I didn't even know who was asking because I was just returning a missed call with no message.  She just asked for my social again.  I asked who she was and she said she was from Citi Mastercard.  I hung up and called the number on the back of my card.  The call was indeed from Citi.  They needed to verify the last three transactions on my account because they included two online purchases and bar tab.  I'm glad they called to check that these were not fraudluent transactions, but the first phone call just seemed really sketchy.  If you get a call from this number, just call the number on the back of your card to be safe.

Let me add to the list of those confirming that the electronic call was from Citibank.  I would not return the call at that number, but did call the number on the back of my card, and my call was immediately directed to the fraud department.  They confirmed the electronic call, and asked to verify a large purchase made three hours earlier.  So it seems fine.

Still, Citibank ought to know better than to encourage people to give out their credit cards numbers to someone at an unknown number.

The 866-517-5348 number is indeed the CitiCard fraud department.  When I contacted them, someone had obtained my card number and racked up several thousand dollars in charges in one day.  So, like other callers, I am extremely glad they have this service.
