We have callerID on our phone system at work. When a call comes in that says "unknown" or "Toll Free", I quickly type in the phone number in Google to see what comes up.

When I do pick up the phone, I always wait a few seconds before saying anything, which would make the call-center computers think nobody is there, and will disconnect. Otherwise, if I hear a bunch of people in the background, it's another sign of a call-center.

This time, the caller said would like to speak to the person in charge of our AT&T account. I told her we don't have AT&T, which threw her off her script, so she said "OK, thank you bye"

The call came in at 8:19AM to our business phone.  Our office is not open at that hour.

The called - their calls are now blocked.

Buy a call blocking phone.  Uniden makes an excellent office phone that blocks numbers.  These phones also come with a wireless handset - very handy.  

As I am typing yet another call came in...an "unknown number."  Unknown numbers are automatically blocked.

BTW the Uniden phone does not even ring when a blocked call comes in...the phone simply lights up.

Business phone lines are exempt from the "Do Not Call" list.

The caller said she would like to speak to the person in charge of our AT&T account, that AtT&T had authorized them to take over our long distance at a reduced rate. Hah! I asked why AT&T had just sent me a bill without any mention of this supposed change in service. The woman said I would not get any information from AT&T because AT&T had handed over its long distance support for customers like me to them (whoever they were---never clearly spelled out by the way). I said no way, and she hung up on me. I immediately called AT&T to warn them of this classic slam spam.

If you EVER get a call from anyone claiming to be "auithorized" for XY or Z and YOU did not initiate the call, just say no and hang up!

she said she handles our att account under a different business name, when i asked her a bunch of questions she hung up she is trying to fish for answers for saying she is lowering our account to 9.95 amonth, she was trying to get information on our company, I out witted her and she hung up.

A woman called our office this morning wanted to speak with the owner regarding our AT&T account.  When I explained that we did not have AT&T, she began to argue with me, insisting that we do.  So I hung up on her.  She called back 4 times and argued with myself and our office manager each time.  This woman is nothing short of crazy!  When I called the number back, it immediately goes to a voice message stating that all their representatives are busy and to leave a message so they can call me back.

Beth, as she claims, called in regards to At&t charges. I told her we do not have At&t as our telephone provider, she said yes you do its a business account and I need to speak to "xyz" and she did mentioned the owner's name. I asked her about the account number and she said its the one I am calling you on. She was getting upset so I told her that the owner was not available at the moment and she hung up. Now, I search all caller-id telephone numbers as I am speaking to them to make sure I do not give out any classified information to anyone. Please report this number.

(866) 526-4128 is the caller-id telephone number that appeared.

My phone number use to be a business number, but now is my home phone number.  Damn, I also get all these "office business calls"!  Thanks AT&T !!!!!

They called again and again, their call was blocked - again!  From February!!!

She asked for 'person in charge of our ATT account' - I ask "where are you calling from?" - response = "this is the company that is authorized to lower the rates & fee on that account".  I told her that her company is not authorized by US to do anything to our accounts, then I hung up.  

Like wise do not have or ever had AT&T. in the first place !! these people are scammers do not give them info. Better yet report them as we did.

Our office telephone had a call from that number at 9:17 AM. My hands were full as I was heading back to my desk and I was attempting to answer it by saying "We don't want any, thank you" and then hanging up. But the phone stopped ringing before I could do that.
We have had numerous calls in the past from an unknown caller asking to speak to the person in charge of our AT&T account, so this could well have been another of those calls.
We have just about ceased answering calls from "Unknown" callers or toll free numbers. They seem to always be spam calls or bill collectors trying to reach whoever had this number at some time in the past.

We are getting calls from this number 5 days per week Monday through Friday and they always ask to speak to the person that handles the AT&T account.  I have told them numerous times that we do not appreciate all the calls and that we do not want anything from AT&T from marketing calls and they just hang up.  I want the calls to stop and an address to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

Spam/ fake AT&T caller.. calls our company every week.

Woman asked for the person who handles our AT&T account.
I asked if we currently had an account with them, and she said "Yes you have an AT&T account."
I said "No kidding, I know, we pay the bill" and hung up.

When I called back the number out of curiosity a recording advised me they are experiencing high call volumes at this time and that I should leave a message.
