This is a collection agency that used to be Canadian Bonded Credits Ltd., and are now, apparently, IQOR.  I had one voicemail left at work, to call back immediately and quote this reference.  I then had about eight calls in the space of a work day (god bless caller ID - do NOT wanna take that type of call at work).
I called back and spoke to someone.  Within five minutes I had another call and when i answered they started to get sh*tt* and then said, oh, did you just call our office - sorry, we didn't see that.

i realise that these people have a job to do.  The problem is that for those of us who have run in to financial troubles, it's not always that we're deadbeats - and that's the attitude that comes across when talking to them.  They treat us like we're scum.  I read a post on another number from the same company where someone who claimed to work for them referred to other posters as morons and said that we should just pay our damn bills.  Not helpful, but it shows their attitude.

Don't let them bully you.  My advice is (and it's hard learned advice) call them back when it's convenient to you and tell them what you CAN do.  Try to stick to it and if you can't, let them know.  If they're rude and obnoxious, hang up and call back and ask for a manager.  You don't have to take their rudeness.

    hang in there!

I have received 5 phone calls in the last 12 hours about a Rogers account that I never had. They keep bringing up some woman's name that I don't know, yet they have my name on file. I work for Bell and have never had any sevrvices with Rogers.

Yet they keep calling me back... late at night and early in the morning.

I am contacting the CRTC and filing a complaint due to harrassment.

I have experienced the same! They call 2-3 times a day starting at 8am, looking for some woman and have ignored my repeated explanations that no one by that name has been attached to my number for at least 4 years.

Calls are coming many times a day for a name I do not know. Then, they want to know who I am. I told them I don't give out my personal information to anyone. I just ignore the calls now. They are agressive and rude. Thank heavens for caller ID.

When dealing with collection agencies, keep records.  There are specific rules they have to follow.  You can complain to I believe it's the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations (or that's what it used to be).  I've had a collection agency bug me for a non-existent bill in the past.  I asked for a copy of the unpaid account as it was supposedly a few years old.  When they couldn't produce one, I wrote back explaining I had no record of that service and that unless they could provide me with evidence that the account was my responsibility, they were to "cease and desist".  It worked.

The first call today was at about 7:00 am.  I didn't answer.  The second call came in about 8:30 - again I didn't answer.  The third call just after 10:00 am I answered.  They asked for me by name.  I confirmed they were speaking to me.  They then said they were calling from ICORP on a personal business matter.  They asked me to confirm my address, then my year of birth.  My response was I didn't give out personal information like that unless I knew who I was talking to.  She was rather rude and said she told me who she was and that she was calling about a personal business matter.  If I refused to answer her questions, she would end the call.  I didn't wait for that and hung up myself!

FYI folks:  The Collection Agencies Act forbids collection agencies from contacting a consumer until six days after sending the consumer written notice of the name of the creditor, the balance owing, the name of the agency and its authority to demand payment.  No contact can be made on Sunday (except between 1 & 5 pm) or on a holiday.  They can't contact you more than 3 times in a seven day period, without consent, once they have spoken to you, except by mail.  They also can't continuing contacting you once you have told them you are not the person they are looking for - unless they take reasonable precautions to ensure you are in fact the person!  My advice:  if you're talking to one of these people and haven't received a letter, ask them to send you a letter explaining who they are and what debt they are attempting to collect.  Once you get the letter, you can reply as necessary.

Well.. they're at it again. After a month of not calling, as my "name and number were removed from the list" and an apology for calling in error, I received yet another phone call, this time at 7:44 this morning. Guy asks for my last name, and says "Hey, you need to pay your bill", then hangs up. I call these [***] back, and once again, my name and number are not in the system. I asked for the fax number and here it is.

I am seriously thinking about persuing legal action against this company.

For several days I have been receiving calls from this number. When I pick up, they don't even ask for a person but eventually hang up. I called the number back and spoke to a woman who said that my number was not in their system, told me that the company name was IQOR Canada, a lie, and then also refused to provide me with head office information.

I understand that this is a collection agency. They have no reason to contact me. They have lied to me about their identity. As per standard Canadian tort law, repeated unwanted calls are a legal nuissance. I would also consider this situation to constitute a legally actionable harassment. Furthermore under corporate statutes, corporations are obligated to provide you with head office and contact information upon request. Companies that refuse to do so can be fined under the OBCA or the CBCA. I am going to file several formal complaints with my MP, my MPP, a complaint under the appropriate corporate statute and if the calls persist, perhaps a claim for nuissance or harassment. I WOULD URGE ANYONE IN MY SITUATION TO DO THE SAME. COLLECTION AGENCIES ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO STRICT GUIDELINES IF YOU DO OWE MONEY AND FURTHER ACTION CAN BE TAKEN. tHIS KIND OF IGNORANT BEHAVIOUR NEEDS TO BE STOPPED AND YOU CAN HELP!

I have just done some research. iQor is the new name of Canadian Bonded Credit Limited. iQor has an extensive Code of Conduct and Consumer Pledge on their website (www.iqor.com) that belies the wat that they operate and makes their much praised new call-center technology an absolute joke if I am getting repeated calls, without owing any outstanding debt, being harassed, lied to and hung-up on. The following is the text from the afformentioned web pages, a useful tool if they are harassing you:

iQor Code of Conduct from www.iqor.com

iQor employees are to handle themselves at all times with professionalism, a polite manner and personal integrity while following regulatory guidelines.

There are no exceptions and no excuses to this rule. In fact, all employees abide by the following principles:

    Identify the right party.
Identify iQor and the purpose of the call.
    Document all actions and requests.
Stop pressing when the customer asks you to. "No means no."
    Escalate difficult calls to management.
    Treat consumers with respect.

    Employees should not:

Transfer the consumer to another department unless they are positive it is the only remaining solution.
End the call until you are certain the consumers' issue is resolved.

    _______________________________________________________________________

iQor statement of Consumer Rights from www.iqor.com

iQor strictly abides by federal, state and local laws and regulations, including the:

    Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
    Fair Credit Reporting Act
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act - Telephone Consumer Protection Act

In addition, iQor has developed policies and procedures to assist employees in performing the many aspects of iQor's business operations.

To ensure our compliance with those laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures, iQor employees adhere to our Code of Professional Conduct. This Code serves as a public commitment to our clients, vendors and investors of our pledge to conduct business relationships with the highest level of professionalism, ethics and honesty.

CLEARLY THE GOOD PEOPLE AT IQOR ARE NOT FOLLOWING THEIR OWN RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR DEALING WITH THE PUBLIC AND ANYONE RECEIVING CALLS SUCH AS THOSE DESCRIBED ABOVE AND IN THE ORIGINAL POSTING SHOULD COMPLAIN TO IQOR AND TO THE APPROPRIATE REGULATORY BODIES.

HERE IS THE CURRENT CONTACT INFORMATION FOR IQOR:

Full Corporate Name: iQor Canada Ltd.  THUS a complaint could be filed under the Canada Business Corporations Act.

Address: 255 Consumers Road (all or most Suites)
            Toronto, ON M2J 1R4
            Canada

This is where you should send your legal Claims should you wish to persue that avenue of action.

    Telephone: 1-888-804-8198

    Fax: 1-877-895-8565

I trust that this will help some of you out there whom are as angry as I am at the rude, unprofessional and frankly illegal manner in which iQor does business. These people cannot even come close to abiding by their own policies. In my case, there is absolutely no reason for a collections company to be contacting me, YET iQor claims to have the most advanced call-center technology that might presumably prevent such irritating, unwanted and unnecessary calls. If you are in my situation, having read all of the above and the original post, you can take civil legal action, complain to regulatory authorities that will fine iQor, complain to the Ombudsman for Ontario, complain to the Provincial and Federal governments, file a complaint under the Canada Business Corporations Act or just give them a taste of their own medicine via the contact information posted above. This company is toasted in the business world but should be roasted in the REAL world, where we all work play and live.

Great suggestion, I have been having similar experiences with this company and will be contacting my Mp & MPP to raise this issue with them.

I would encourage everyone to do the same as the more emails sent the better the chance that our elected members will actually take some action in this matter

I got a new cell phone from Rogers on Sunday, Feb.15.  The calls started the next day.  I began noting them on Feb.19 and they were a very regular twice-a-day thing. By Feb.23, however, they stepped up to 3 times a day.  And like other posters, whenever I answered, no one was there.  And they never left a message on voicemail, either. On Feb.24, I FINALLY was able to answer and have someone actually speak on the other end.  She was a very abrasive person and certainly didn't sound like anyone I would want to hire for telephone customer service/support.  However, I have not received a single call since I spoke to her and, again like other posters, they were looking for someone I'd never heard of.  I'm hoping that is the end of it.
