    Ditto, same crap as the 877 670 1087 message wanting to serve me papers on something not related to me at all as established by returning call to the 877 670 1087 number.  I'm not wasting my time to call them back but its disturbing that they have my personal information and the fact that they are calling on my wife's cell phone for someone else that has the same name as me.

    I've gotten several of these phone calls.  Called them back and they answered as Lane Powell.  This is totally not the Lane Powell law firm as they do not do collection work.  I contacted the attorney general's office in my state and reported it and also emailed the real Lane Powell law firm.  They responded that they have received numerous reports of a scammer collection agency using their name and requested that I report them to the FBI and provided me with this is a link to the FBI’s on-line tip reporting tool.  https://tips.fbi.gov/  - PLEASE REPORT THEM IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU.

    Update - I called the number back again - they guy screamed at me that he didn't care about any of it and screamed vulgarities at me - told me I had 11 judgments against me and that I was a deadbeat and to pay my f-ing bills - when I asked for his address he wouldn't give it to me and I asked how was I supposed to pay the supposed debts that I have without a mailing address.  He continued to scream at me - what is alarming is that he had my Social Security Number but he apparently didn't have any other correct information.  I told him I had reported him to the real Lane Powell law firm, the attorney general and the FBI.  He told me he didn't give a flying f-ck and what could they do to him and I asked well what do they do to company's using another company's name??  He told me they were going to arrest me!  I think they troll through court databases looking for judgments, etc. because the debt he referred to regarding me is over 15 years old (he wasn't happy when I told him that it was past the statute of limitations) and had been paid long long long ago.  I called back from my work number and was put on hold and finally got through to a Jack - I asked for the mailing address - he also wouldn't give it to me.  I pushed and he still wouldn't give it to me but he then asked for my phone number and I gave it to him and he said he would take my number off of their calling list and when he was hanging up he said "Jesus Christ" in a very disgusted manner.  Don't let these guys intimidate or scare you - report them to your attorney general and the FBI and maybe this will get them shut down.

    Someone from this number called me 3 times saying that they needed to serve me papers. I called back and I told them that they had the wrong number, and the guy started yelling at me saying that this is the number they have on file, and that they needed to serve me papers either at work or at home. I told him once again, that the person they are looking for is not at this number. He then asked me for the number that I am calling from, and I said "you already know what number I am calling from if you know the name of the person that you need to serve papers to" then he started yelling at me "DO YOU WANT THE NUMBER REMOVED FROM THE F***ING LIST OR NOT" Very unprofessional, and wouldn't be surprised if this is some kind of scam!

    If any of these types of callers has any of your personal information, is calling at your place of employment or is calling relatives, then chances are they are hackers that have hacked into a database and stolen your information.  To protect yourself, check your credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com and consider placing a fraud alert on your SS# so you can be alerted to anyone trying to use your identity.  Usually, these callers are going to use strong-arm tactics to extort money from you by making threats.  The FTC has published an article on what debt collectors can and cannot do:

    Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:
    •use threats of violence or harm;
    •publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
    •use obscene or profane language; or
    •repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

    False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
    •falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
    •falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
    •falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
    •misrepresent the amount you owe;
    •indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
    •indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.

    Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
    •you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
    •they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
    •legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.

    If someone claims to be a debt collector and tries any of these illegal tactics to get money from you, then they're a scammer or an extremely unethical debt collector that should be reported to your state Office of Attorney General, Consumer Protection.

    We were having our morning coffee when when all of our phones rang.  It was an unknown caller on our ID but the caller, Doug Keller left this number to call back 1-866-531-9659, they left a message stating that they were a warrant service company and needed to serve us at either our place of business or home and to please call back.
    Not having a clue what it could possibly be for we looked †he company up and found this site.  We did call and they wan†ed to know what our phone number was, not our name, although they knew the name.  We chose not to continue with the call back.  Felt wrong, besides don't Sheriff departments usually handle these kinds of issues?  They have an online database where you may look up information about warrants.  It's crazy how someone can make you rethink your integrity by a false allegation.  Don't get swallowed up by scam artists.

    I too, have received calls from Doug Keller claiming he is going to serve papers to me at home or work. I CO NOT CALL them back because it is obviously a scam. You don't receive threats of legal action over the phone. Furthermore, they could contact the USPS for an accurate address if this was legitimate.  Also, I believe there are many people with my name so it could be any number of other people if it was legit. Just a fishing expedition as far as I am concerned. I also notice I receive these calls close to the end of the month. Some scammer trying to pad his pockets illegally.  I think I will share it with the FBIi link above as well and I encourage the rest of you to do the same.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Same as above, called them back and they were extremely rude and making up a bunch of lies.  They wouldn't give me any information, only wanted information from me.  They put a "lawyer" on the line that sounded like the only courtroom experience he had was as a defendent.  He told me that my local police department had a warrant out for my arrest and unless I paid I'd be going to jail.  I verified with the sheriffs department, who confirmed this wasn't true, and they had received several similiar calls in recent days and that this was a definite scam someone was trying to pull.

    Long story short, don't give these [***] any information and report them to the FBI.  I really hope they nail these pieces to the wall!!!

    Same story, automated message that a Doug Tiller has papers to serve me, can contact the plaintiff at this number for questions. Unfortunately I called the number but didn't catch the name at the beginning. They told me this was regarding a credit card bill, that this went to the DA's office in my county, that there is a warrant for my arrest and I would go to jail and a bunch of other stuff. Called my local sheriff's office to report it and of course there is no warrant out for my arrest. Wish I could block the automated message as it's called back 2 more times this week.

            Got a robotic message saying they need my home or work address to serve me with papers.  Being a bit curious, I called the number. They claimed to be 'Lane Powell and Associates.'   I reach a lady after being on hold for a minute and she tells me I am being sued for 'credit card fraud' on a defaulted debt from 2008.  That was the first red flag; there is no such thing as credit card fraud on a defaulted debt.  They have nothing to do with each other!!   The lady said the last payment I made was in 2008, which is a lie because the last payment was actually made in 2000.  I told her even if the 2008 default was legitimate, it is still past the SOL in California.  She said that the SOL 'did not apply'.  I told her she was full of it and that she had a very active imagination.  She then went on to say that they can get a judgement against me and my mortgage company and that I will have to sell my house to pay them back.  I told her that "you guys are real funny."  She then said that they will see me in court and I responded by saying that I am looking forward to it.  Unbelievable just how low this person was.  They are probably not even a real debt collector and probably just hacked into a database somehere.
