a woman called me and left me a message that there is fraudulent activity on my credit card and asked me to call 866-554-0124.

is this number legit or is it a scam?  i received a letter in the mail today from them.

My answering machine received a message from this number stating to call about fraudulent activity on my Platinum Direct CitiCards card.  Only problem is that I have not owned or used any credit cards in over four years!

I received the same letter and called.  I was asked to give account number and felt suspicious so I hang up.

Call from Citibank fraud dept. regarding charges on my card. I called the 800 number on the BACK OF THE CARD so I knew who I was talking to. It was a VALID fraud alert. When I asked the Citibank customer service person to check the number, they said it was a number from their fraud department. But, always good to check!

I just called the phone number on the back of my credit card, and it was a legitimate phone call. The Citicard customer service immediately recognized that a fraud department had called me to verify a suspicious activity on my card. It turned out that someone in Hong Kong had tried to run a charge through my company's credit card. In the past, however, I have received similar phone calls from people claiming to be a fraud department, and they asked for sensitive information. As a general rule, I never call back the phone number that is given by the person, instead I either find it on the back of my card or on the monthly statement and call the customer service.

Got a call from this number saying my account had been compromised.  Was unsure if this was really Citibank.  Real citibank fraud dept #.  Called the 1-800 # on the back of my credit card to verify.

This is a legitimate number for Citibank.  But always call the number on the back of your card just to be sure and DO NOT give out any info if you are not sure who you are talking to.

I called the number on the back of my card, and they said they had no red flags on our account, and that they show no calls from citibank going out to us at all.

When I call the number that called me the 866-554-0124, they answer the phone as 'Early warning fraud deparatment, what is your credit card number' but does not identify the Bank. I don't trust them! Also, I am on the account, not as primary, so when they originated the call and asked to speak to my husband, they wouldn't talk to me about the fraud. My citibank number on the back of the card said they WOULD give me any information that I needed from the fraud dept being 2ndary on the account.

This sounds like these people are NOT legit!

I got the same call from 866-554-0124 and they are legit.  Somehow someone got my card # 2 days ago and had charged my card 5 separate times in 2 days.  They started off with a small amount for $10.00 at Bed Bath and Beyond then Starbucks $40.00 and it escalated up in the $100.00 range.  I knew something was up because I tried to get gas yesterday and they declined my card.  Thank goodness they caught it in a small amount of time.  Can't figure out how the hell these crooks get your information?

Caller states that they are CitiCards fraud division.  They are NOT this is a SCAM!!!!
