Asked for someone I knew.  Would not tell reason for call.  Said that information protected by federal law.

Called my work and left message. I wonder how they got my work number. Still deciding if I will call back.

Name of the company is United Collection Bureau

Number is United Collections Bureau, website is http://www.ucbinc.com.  Called my residence asking for a female acquaintance.  Not a girl friend, just an acquaintance.  Have absolutely no idea how they got my number.  Serious [***].

got call from person name jackie from UCB. apparently she was asking whether i had acquaintance with another person similar to my name. that's all she told me after she got my name and number and refused to tell me when i asked how she got my number to ask regarding whoever the person might be, only repeating that the information is protected.  at the beginning of the call when i called back, it had recorded answering machine saying call is monitored.

Asked for a Derek Peroit or something like that, hung up when I asked what company they were.

Got a call for my daughter who lives in another state.  Refused to give me any info but said that if she would call him and give him (Mr. Miller) permission to speak with me, he could tell me what this is about.

Just got a call at my job asking if I was such an such person. I said yes, who am I speaking with? The lady name Heather at ext. 4863. Refuse to give absolutely any information but wanted for me to verify address and DOB, something about they receiving a file in their office. I said to her you got my name when I answered, am not giving out any other information. She insisted I said no. She then told me to call her back, gave me a reference # and said that when I called I will have to give my info before they can release any information. I have no clue who and what is this. I will not call back also have no clue how she got my work telephone number.

This company is calling my husband's work, my best friend and now today my sister in law.  What's up with that.  Are they allowed to call people not associated with our accounts?  I know this is a collection company.  We are like everyone else right now, due to the economy we lost income and so on.  Are collection companies allowed to call family and friends?

I just got the same call from the same lady @ my work.  I am not calling her back.

Called my work and asked to speak with my boss. Said name was Ms. Leal. left the number with a 8-digit reference number. Would not give any information other than she needed to update his personal file. Was very vague and seemed annoyed that I wanted to know the nature of the call.

They keep calling my number looking for my sister in Law . Exact same experince with htem azs all of the above. Very rude and demanding. Has not called since I happened to be home, picked up the phone and argued with them.

Called my home looking for my 1st husband who I have had no contact with since 1998.  My phone number is private.  If this is a debt collection company you should not be calling me trying to reach my ex husband who doesn't even live in this state as far as I know.

Received message asking to contact a friend--called her by her maiden name, which she hasn't had for 15 years. Didn't bother to return this obviously illegal call.

Called my office, I work in payroll for a large entity, looking for an employee. Wanted me to transfer to the person she was looking for or give out info. We do not do either. They are a collections company.

thank you for the information. I will be called HQ this Monday. They will not say much. Want more information and will not get it from us. It isnt about us they want someone we know. How they got our number is be on us.
