Um, they called ME at 8:48 pm, how can they be closed already? I just cancelled our service with them this morning, but they still haven't physically shut off our service. I called the dealer back at 4pm today to verify that it was indeed being cancelled since it was still running, and she said it could take up to 24 hours. Why are they calling and hanging up then? This company has been nothing but a huge annoyance from day one! And no, we aren't late on any bills with them, we just wanted to cancel our service, and they are giving us the runaround now!- Caller: DirecTv

Actually - I've noticed when I called for the many problems, sometimes they'd put me on hold and then we were "disconnected". I found out later from a different rep that they're encouraged to handle calls as quick as possible, and one way to get a customer off the phone is to just hang up on them. - yeh yehIts is directv... its their winback dept. i got a call today they basically are offering to give everything you want.. so long as you dont disconnect

- DonnieWe don't pick up these kind of calls any more thanks to Caller ID and 800notes.com They called 4 times the day we cancelled our Direct TV six days ago. We have not heard from the since.I Checked the number on this web site right away so I knew who they were and did not worry about it again. It seems that not anserwing these kind of calls is the fastest way to get stop them. Thanks for this very usefull service.

- LindaWe cancelled DirecTV a couple days ago too & have been getting numerous calls from this number ever since. They offered me everything I asked for before I cancelled when I called to cancel but I had already switched to AT&T's Uverse, which is a much better deal for HDTV, so I declined. Before switching to UVerse, I gave them the opportunity to give me everything AT&T was offering but they said they couldn't do it then. Well then, quit calling me telling me now you can give me everything I asked for! I already switched. Get over it! Even if they gave me everything, UVerse would still be the better deal, so I'm not going to switch back.

Annoyed by and really dislike the way the channels are lined up, hate the menu screen, seems to be a very huge pain in the but, just to watch TV. Oh and the signal isn't very reliable.

- John T replies to Andy PSame deal here. Just got Verizon FIOS Broadband and cancelled Direct TV ltwo days ago. It took 2 days and three calls to finally get a rep, which then had me on hold for 11 minutes to speak with the first rep and then transferred to Retention specialist another 5 minutes and they still did not get it. The way the channels are displayed is a joke, no on Demand for the kids, etc. Now today have 4 calls from this 800 number. They are riduclous.

- jay439Last February 2007 my Directv access card went out. I was sent another one at a cost of 19.95. This February 2008 my card goes out again. They want another 19.95 since my other card is no longer under warranty. I called and canceled my service now I'm getting calls from them. I told them if they just sent me a free access card I would stay. No they gave me a bunch of different offers. I'm now switching to U-Verse. I get it installed on Feb 23. Finally I can take that contraption off my roof. They had their chance to keep me but the person I spoke with didn't speak English very clearly. Probably talking to someone at a call center over seas. Directv needs to send their employees to a good customer service school. Now if they offered to give it to me for free I wouldn't take it. I almost forgot they said they would charge me a 12.50 per month early disconnection fee because my commitment runs through June 15. I told them go ahead they will have to send me to collections. I will never pay that bill.

- snow bird replies to ex-DirecTv guy| 1 replyI SIGNED UP FOR DIRECTV THROUGH VERIZON. I was told that I could put on hold when I went bck north. I DESIDED THAT i WOULD JUST STOP SERVICE ALL TOGETHER. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT IT WULD COST ME AROUND $420.00. i TOLD THEM OK I WOULD PROTEST WHEN I RECEIVE BILLING. mAN LATER CALLED AND SAID THAT i could cancel my tv provider back north and they would send man to put directv in for me. He also told me that I could get my local channels. I agreed to it and then I looked at my acct. on their site on internet. to see if i could get the local channels i put in zip code and it said that local channels were not available. I then tried to contact person that i had talked to at 1866-568-8850 and was told to leave my number and they would get back to me. never did. i called directv number for new customer and got hold of person that i told to cancel fl tv and cancel up north. He said that he wlould. I was never told that I was obligated for 2l years, thus when I terminated they want to penalize me for doing so before 2 years. I think these are prediatory practices and i think i will report to FCC and Sec of state and congressmen.
- AmGirl replies to BusiaNow I know - its Directv! Yes, I've called them and told them that I no longer want their service. I wanted really to cancel last year but I was told that I have to wait till April 5, 2008 so I won't be charged for disconnection fee. I have till April 5 and told them last week that I want to cancel. Now, everyday, this number keeps showing up on my id caller list. I did try to answer today but it was this silly recording that they're closed!
Talking from experience, Directv's service is POOR! - RicToday alone i received ten phone cals all hang ups. Sotp call ing my home number.

- bob| 1 replySame thing here. Cancelled my service two days ago and am getting roughly 8 calls a day. The only reason I stayed with them for 10 years was the NFL package but it has gone from $75 to well over $300 in that time. Customer service could be a lot better to say the least.
