- AlisonHad 2 calls in the same day asking for Barbara Golden. I followed the instructions to speak to a person and it's a collection agency. Told them both times there was no one by that name at my number and never has been. I've had my same phone number for 14 years.
- WillyThey didn't say but wanted to talk to Timothy Glick. No idea who that is. They have called more than 20 times.

- GloettaI received a call from this number at my job the woman did not identify herself did say the company name so fast I didn't understand it. She was hateful from the get go. Told me I had to pay $9000 dollars on a car that had been repossessed. I told her I was on my job and could not talk to her then she got real smart asking me why I got an attitude that I owed KIA this money. I have not received anything from KIA Motor Credit since the repo. Sure would like to know how to stop this sort of thing.
- Caller: out of area
- J| 3 repliesGot a call from these people at work yesterday. Caller ID showed up as SIMM Associates. They asked for me, and I asked who was calling. He gave me his name (George - I don't remember the last name) and the name of the company (SIMM). I said it was me and he asked me to confirm my home address. I asked him what it was in regards to and he said Kia and that was it. I never confirmed my address. I asked him why he was calling me at work...that he could not call me at work or I would lose my job. He said that the number he called was listed as my cell phone. I told him that was incorrect and told him I did not currently have another number as it was temporarily disconnected but I could not have him calling me at work either. He said he would make the note and then told me I owed a debt of $2100 to Kia for a repo that happened in Oct 2011 and he wanted to try and make a deal with me so it could be removed from my credit report- it is a legitimate debt for me however, the letter I had received from Kia said I owed almost $3000. I told him I didn't even have an extra $20 to send right now and would have to contact them at a later date. He thanked me for my honesty and said he would note the account and gave me his contact info and we hung up. He seemed very nice and professional...American accent...so I have a hard time thinking this is a scam call. Only thing that seems fishy to me is that my total amount owed is less than what Kia said I owed. Usually when you go to collections for something, more fees are added to your account and your amount can almost double. All I know, is when I am in a position to deal with them, I will be contacting Kia Financial directly to get the correct info from them.

- J replies to JAfter reading more about this company, I am pretty sure they are a scam debt collector. If they happen to call you about a legitimate debt that you owe, get their info and tell them you will call them back. Immediately call the company they say you owe the debt to and confirm that it was sold to SIMM. Unless it is a really old debt that could have been sold repeatedly, if they say it was sold to another agency, then chances are it's a scam. You can also check your own credit report to see if SIMM is shown on there anywhere. Your report shows collection agencies that your debts have been sold to.
- MG replies to CaneIt's a collection agency. It's a company representing a credit card or other debt you owe. They are looking to settle your debt and are willing to work with you. I received a 60% discount on one credit card because I am disabled.
- SharpekThis nut called & asked for some wrong number & when I told him, he proceeded to start asking me all kinds of questions like "is this a new number you just aquired?".When I told him I ve had this number over 30 years, he proceed-ed to keep talking about this She-na-na or whoever he was looking for, so I told him "Look, I told you that you have the wrong number. What part of that dont you understand?". He was trying to loud-talk me, but did not realize he was messing with the wrong person & I got the last word in b 4 I hung up. They have called previously also. Something is wrong with these kind of people.

- Axel replies to J| 1 replyThey can't collect on a 2011 debt, unless you reopen it, the debt was bought by another debt collector at a lesser value and they are trying to get something from you. If it's from 2011 they can't statue of limitations expired on the debt.
- BigA replies to AxelJ clearly posted here in 2012. There is no "statue". There is a Statute of Limitations and no state has a 1 year Statute. You should learn to read everything thoroughly.
- Talmage Bowman| 1 replyThis caller has no respect this number has a history calling 3 to 4 time most days.Never same voice that was last caller. Most of the time I don't answer but the last time was added to do not call but no change. This is so weird and harrasing that I thinking maybe my x has set it up
- Caller: 8665728798
- BigA replies to Talmage BowmanI'm starting to get a picture about why he is an "ex". You seem really paranoid. This is a debt collector and they are well known to keep calling until you make them realize that they should stop.
- BigAYou will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

And the best one a lawsuit where Simm Associates committed fraud (who would have guessed a debt collector would do that): https://dockets.justia.com/docket/minnesota/mndce/0:2009cv00798/105923/
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
